Proposed name change

edit

I strongly believe this article be placed under a new title - History of human rights in Iran, which should be merged with Human rights in the Pahlavi Dynasty. The material on this title page should be replaced with the material from Human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Human rights in Iran should explain the contemporaneous situation. History of human rights in Iran should have a more historical perspective. Thoughts?ShamWow (talk) 22:04, 27 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Now Human rights in the Pahlavi Dynasty has been merged with Human rights in Iran and the only mention of the Pahlavi is that it wasn't as bad as the IRI! So yes I agree a history article would be good. Human rights in Iran is very long and enlarging the history section would make it even more cumbersome. --BoogaLouie (talk) 20:08, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Great, that works. More needs to be said somewhere about human rights under the Pahlavi dynasty.Plot Spoiler (talk) 22:37, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed creation of History of human rights in Iran

edit

to include text from the old pre-merger Human rights in Iran and Human rights in the Pahlavi Dynasty. Any objections? If not it will be created in a week or so. --BoogaLouie (talk) 22:54, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate of Human rights in Islamic Republic of Iran?

edit

Why is this page now a duplicate of Human rights in Islamic Republic of Iran? There was a request for merger/poll on this issue, and there was a consensus that that this page should be a summery of Human rights issues under all the different Iranian governments. However, there was a major change made recently [1], without a consensus, that completely changed the format of the page. I am restoring the previous version, if anyone intends to to make major changes, a consensus should be obtained on the talk page first. --Kurdo777 (talk) 08:48, 11 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

There was consensus. Every editor agreed to the move. AzureFury (talk | contribs) 07:11, 12 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

IMO, the Human Rights in Iran page should not be a disambiguation page

edit

As per the comments above, the current state of this page seems to be the result of some debate...but IMHO the page human rights in Iran really should contain information primarily about the current state of human rights in Iran. Most countries have a "Human rights in..." page containing information on the current state of human rights in that country. See:

and many more examples. Additional articles (like the one on Human rights in the Imperial State of Iran could be listed in a disambiguation paragraph at the top of the page, or linked from article sections. This article is listed as "High Importance" to the human rights project, so I think that it would be a good idea to have an actual article here and not just a disambiguation link. Thanks, CordeliaNaismith (talk) 19:38, 23 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I concur based both on the precedents listed above and for general practicality. If people are seeking information on human rights in Iran, the reality is that the great majority of people will be seeking current information. That's not to say that human rights under the Pahlavi dynasty should be ignored, but it should not be placed on parity with the current human rights situation in Iran.Plot Spoiler (talk) 21:26, 23 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
I placed a move request here. Thanks, CordeliaNaismith (talk) 22:26, 23 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re:Moving + dab tag removal

edit

I've read over the discussion about the moving of this page last year and I see that there was no concensus on this. Despite no agreement on the best course of action, there was some general agreement that this pages as it is now is not an ideal. Perhaps it's time for some more suggestions to take place on what is best to be done here. I've gone and removed the dab tag as this page is not a disambiguation page. It does not list different topics that have the same title; rather, this is a list, that indexes articles that are sub-topics of a single topic. -France3470 (talk) 07:09, 30 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Too much copied-and-pasted content

edit

Human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran#Notable issues concerning human rights is very similar to Human rights in Iran#Notable issues concerning human rights, with several sections that are entirely identical. Should these redundant sections be merged? Jarble (talk) 00:27, 7 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'd definitely agree to that. Do you have suggestions over which direction to do the merging in? (Take from here and put there, or vice-versa?) Red Slash 00:56, 7 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Red Slash: You can use the WikiBlame tool to find the article where the text originally came from. You'll need to search the revision history of both articles, though. Jarble (talk) 02:29, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Correct. But I repeat: if you want to merge them, how should that process be done? Red Slash 05:16, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Red Slash: It appears that you copied and pasted several sections into this article from Human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran. This content should be merged back into the original article. Jarble (talk) 15:58, 11 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

massive trimming needed

edit

... as this article is essentially the verrrry long Human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran article combined with information from Human rights in the Imperial State of Iran. No one ever got around to trimming it. I hope to.--Louis P. Boog (talk) 03:07, 19 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Children's rights: The age of ... criminal responsibility in international norms is 18 years

No it isn't. I added a link to Age of criminal responsibility which shows in most places in the world is less than 18. Irreditor (talk) 13:05, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Why has there been no action by the International Criminal Court on human rights in Iran? Viriditas (talk) 23:31, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

See States parties to the Rome Statute. The court has jurisdiction over crimes "committed by nationals of states parties or within the territory of states parties." Iran was never a party to the Rome Statute. It signed the statute in 2000, but never ratified it. Dimadick (talk) 03:19, 21 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
