This article is a mess!!

edit

This article needs to be cleaned up, it has no information on the current situation. QZXA2 14:17, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree, and it looks like 4 years later, nothing's changed. I've added information about one case but that hardly covers the full picture.Khazar (talk) 05:57, 17 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Suggestions for improvement

edit

I am planning to improve this article in the following weeks by taking the following steps:

I will restructure the introduction section and add an introductory sentence conforming to Wikipedia guidelines (which is absent at this moment). I will add missing sources, and update outdated information. I will also add information about the current state of human rights in the country and complete the list of relevant recent developments. Lastly I will write a short section about Bride Kidnapping, because this is one of the most well-known ways in which international human rights are violated in Kyrgyzstan and has been topic of recent debate.

New edits!

edit

Hey there! I actualised most information of this article and I added many new sources to material that was previously not cited. I added a new section about the current situation in the country and made some structural changes to the article, I deleted or changed a few sentences that were not in line with academic literature and/or NGO reports. I invite other Wikipedia users to make this page better! The History section needs to be looked at and my added section about the current situation can be expanded, maybe the lead section can use some more work too! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sabliekdilletjes (talkcontribs) 15:05, 16 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Facebook as source

edit

Hello - a pop up emerged after I cited Facebook as a source - just wanted to rationale this as being due to Sadyr Japarov making a statement on a recent bride kidnapping - I've been unable to find his statement made anywhere else. As it is his official Facebook page I felt it was justified to use as a source. Thanks Oligostrix (talk) 16:41, 8 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
