Pretty please
editPlease don't turn this article into a random collection of internet memes. Please keep the discussion general, referenced from sources which discuss specifics of humor in the era of internet, along the lines of the initial stub. Staszek Lem (talk) 01:55, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

Limor Shifman
editA good deal of info may be taken from LS's article. However I would caution from re-using anything beyond typology and general comments: his statistics if obviously from the extremely limited sample. 03:39, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

Proposed Addition of a History Section
editI plan to add a heading titled ‘History of Humour on the Internet.’ This history section will detail the evolution of the history of humor on the internet. It will include the different forms that humor on the internet has taken (gifs, memes, reels) and the different platforms that humor has evolved onto (instagram; tiktok). This section will directly reference the multi-media sources that exist today - ie. Instagram, TikTok etc. The content in this heading will be written in chronological order as a timeline of developments. I also plan to add a visual example of a meme to illustrate how humor has been used on the internet. The meme is called “Wikipedia Image Meme” and it has been retrieved from the Creative Commons library page. Alexs3030 (talk) 19:01, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
Addendum to Earlier Proposed Changes
editRather than focusing directly on the history of humor on the internet, my edits will be focused on the medium of internet humor. I will add a heading titled “Medium of Internet Humor” discussing three key mediums of internet humor: memes, GIFs, and short-form videos (ex. TikTok, Instagram Reels etc). This will ensure that my edits do not overlap with the history of other Wikipedia pages such as “Internet Memes.” Alexs3030 (talk) 18:51, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
