Húnán / Xiāng

First sentence of article states pinyin: Húnán but infobox states pinyin: Xiāng. Witch one is correct?--Pere prlpz (talk) 17:56, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Hunan is shorted for Xiang.10:19, 26 February 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Keyi (talkcontribs)

Number Error

"According to the census, 89.79% (575,400) identified themselves as Han people, 10.21% (6,575,300) as minority groups" These numbers don't make sense.86.6.112.99 (talk) 18:08, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

I think the numbers for the Han are incorrect by 2 orders of magnitude (102). At that point,   ~   --HXL's Roundtable and Record 18:47, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

You've forgotten

To mention that in the 'Hunanese' dialect Hunan is FULAN. You should at least mention that because I'm half Fulanese and I think it's important, like how they write the Gaelic names of Scottish places. Also, why is the great leap forward not mentioned... 600,00 families (more than a million people) from Hunan (as well as other provinces) moved to Yunnan in 1960 after a Chinese biologist wrote a report to Mao about how Yunnan had a perfect climate for growing bananas. In 2010 they wrote a book celebrating 50years of the movement. And, it was them who cleared up Dehong. Jiatai (talk) 09:58, 16 October 2011 (UTC)Jiatai

"came under Chinese control" with Chu?

What does it even mean for "Hunan" to "come under Chinese control" with the advent of Chu when we're talking about something that happened in like, 1000 B.C.E? I think I understand what this sentence is trying to express; essentially, that Hunan became "civilized", or adopted certain cultural habits at this type that began its divergence from the cultural habits of the proto-Shan States or whatever, but it's worded very anachronistically. 70.15.123.13 (talk) 17:01, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
