Word Choice

edit

In the section about windows being more securely attached than in typical construction, Tapcon is a trademarked brand of concrete screw rather than a type of screw. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.83.138.211 (talk) 18:52, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Whaddaya mean other countries?

edit

"... in that a building built before 1993 which may not be constructed to withstand wind loading can be... " What's so special about the year 1993? As far as I know, nothing significant happened to storms in 1993 (like, "god" didn't just decide all storms were going to be different...), so I suspect this is yet another case of someone not realising that there are in fact other countries on this planet outside the United States, and that these other countries in fact have their own legal framework... It's really fairly annoying. 95.209.191.97 (talk) 20:41, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

The correct grammar would be "hurricane-proof building". Jdorje 21:28, 6 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Is it just me, or does the part about Monolithic Domes sound more like a sales pitch than an encyclopedic article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.207.251.174 (talk) 02:10, 9 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hurricane-proof buildingHurricane building standards – I believe it would make more sense to rewrite towards an emphasis on building standards to expand topic to cover more regulations, industry practices. • Comment the proposed title gets one hit in Google Books. (It would probably also be best to pick a title that doesn't look like it means "standards for building a hurricane"). I am not familiar with terminology in this area, but for example "hurricane resistance standards" gets 25 GBooks hits. 58.176.246.42 (talk) 09:13, 11 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
