• I did what I could with the advice here. The only stumbling block was the Little Ark sentence (the source wasn't very descriptive). Another editor did a copyedit (we edit-conflited).   • No problem, I just have one minor quibble. 1.), Finally, when it reached Category 4 strength on August 14, Celeste became the most intense storm to form in the 1972 Pacific hurricane season. – I would remove this from the records section, as it isn't a record. Lead

1. Hurricane Celeste was the first known hurricane to strike Johnston Atoll at that intensity. — At what intensity?
2. The storm intensified steadily, becoming a Category 1 hurricane four days after forming. It kept this intensity through its time in the East Pacific. — At least to me, this makes it sound like Celeste stayed a Category 1 hurricane its whole lifespan. Try wording?
3. After maintaining this intensity for twelve hours, the hurricane began to weaken while passing south of Hawai'i. — Hawaii? (use for whole article)
4. Celeste then made a turn to the northwest and dropped below hurricane intensity a week after it reached its peak — For this sentence and the third sentence, could you give exact dates and not just "x days later"?

Meteorological history

1. After two days, it peaked as a minimum Category 4 hurricane, an intensity it would keep for twelve hours. — Like the lead, exact date.
2. Afterward, the hurricane began a slow weakenening, despite reaching its lowest pressure — 940 millibars (28 inHg) — after its wind speed decreased — Afterward → Afterwards | weakenening → weakening (trend) | wind speed → wind speeds.
3. On August 16, the hurricane made a turn to the west-northwest, putting it on a track towards Johnston Atoll. — You cannot "put" a hurricane on its track. Reword?
4. After passing the atoll, Celeste turned to the northwest and eventually weakened to a tropical storm eleven days after having first become a hurricane — Let's go with exact date here.
5. Shortly after weakening to a tropical storm, it entered an area of vertical wind shear which sped up its weakening and, on August 22, led to its dissipation. → Shortly after weakened to a tropical storm, it entered an area of higher vertical wind shear which ultimately led to its dissipation by August 22.

Impact

1. The ship — the Regina Maris — issued a distress call was impacted by high winds and rough seas, resulting in damage that lead to the ship taking on 2000 gallons of water an hour. — Are you missing a word or two at the beginning of this sentence?
2. A Hurricane Hunter aircraft en route to the hurricane found the ship after receiving word on the ship and helped guide a rescue aircraft to the vessel before resuming its reconnaissance flight. → A Hurricane Hunter aircraft en route to the hurricane found the ship after receiving it was in the area, and helped guide a rescue plane to the vessel before resuming its reconnaissance flight.
3. Another rescue attempt was affected when a homemade yacht called the Little Ark was threatened by the hurricane after rescuing the crew of the ship Pipedream II. — This sentence is confusing, I'm not sure what it is trying to say.
