"(costing the government billions of dollars that could have been used toward the Iran-Iraq War)"
editThe implication here - that Shahristani was motivated by desire for Iraqi military success rather than fear of enabling Hussein- seems to need substantiation to me. johnpseudo 00:52, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
This entire article needs a re-write. Aside from numerous grammatical errors, it seems likely created to highlight Hussain al-Shahristani's political competence and to encourage a positive public perception of him.
editI know that posts should only discuss one topic at a time, but in this case it seemed impossible. So I will try the best I can to concisely list them in one post.
- . Numerous grammatical errors throughout (i.e. -building Building Nuclear reactors- under Early Life & Education section, and 2 sentences later -a position which he refused to take it and stated- under Career
- . Career Section:
- a. -which was also a Shia from the government coalition.- Poor grammar, irrelevant, unsubstantiated.
- b. Very next sentence. -By August, however, he was under pressure as there was a fuel crisis.- Extremely vague. Pressure from who, to do what? Also irrelevant unless there was someone sort of result from the pressure (resignation, termination etc.)
- c. 2 sentences later. -He has made some significant achievements in period of December 2012 to February 2013.- Poor grammar, vague, unsubstantiated.
- d. The next sentence is out of place chronologically. -From 2006 to 2010, Shahristani was Iraq's minister of oil, and he served as acting minister of electricity in 2010.-
- e. The next paragraph is out of place chronologically as it belongs at the beginning of the section, and also warrants being mentioned in the article's summary. -Before his arrest and imprisonment Shahristani served as Chief Scientific Advisor to the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission. Prior to that, he was a lecturer at Mosul University (1973), an Assistant Professor at Baghdad University (1974), Chief of Baghdad University’s Radioisotope Production Department from 1975-1977, and Chief of the Nuclear Chemistry Department from 1977-1979.[7]-
- f. Next sentence. -He is recognised as the architect of Iraq's oil future and during his time Iraq oil output reached a 20-Year high.[8]- That is a very grandiose statement that I believe warrants more specifics. Recognised by whom? The words output and high are equally vague.
I could go on this way, but from here on even the subsections seem chosen with a great deal of bias. They certainly paint an image of him that makes him very intriguing as a political candidate.
3. "Conversation with Sadaam's half brother" and "His reaction- Sadaam's trial" barely warrant mentioning anywhere in the article, let alone their own section. And 4. "2014 Prime Minister To-Be" is very presumptuous as he has not even indicated that he will run for election!!! This whole article was likely put together by a team of people that support his political ambitions. Or at least big fans of his auto-biography. I suggest it be re-written completely. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bdonaldsons (talk • contribs) 23:43, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
