Birmingham
Turns out The Birmingham Mail has pics of Season 6 being filmed there... http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-videos-pictures/birmingham-picture-galleries/2009/08/05/hustle-filmed-in-birmingham-97319-24323610/ I'd add the link, but I have no idea how link numbering works.
Song?
Does anyone know the name of the piano-driven tune that accompanied the AMC preview trailer? Chances are it has appeared elsewhese, but that is the only use I am certian of.
- It's Spoon's "The Way We Get By" off of the album "Kill the Moonlight"...
The Sting
Is it worth mentioning somewhere that the last episode of season one is an explicit homage to The Sting? Daibhid C 19:10, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
- Seems interesting enough to me, if you can provide some direct parallels. WLGades 08:01, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
- no
- Everyone has realised that Hustle used a few ideas from The Sting in the first episode of Series 1, but that's about it, and they even reference the Sting too. So there's nothing really needed to mention about it. JJMan 12:03, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
Actually the final episode in series one is nearer in plot to The Sting, from the setting up of a fake private gambling club in order to perform a con known as "the wire", right down to the hustlers having to shut out the mark at the window (almost identical in appearance to the film) on one occasion to prevent a big loss in the convincer. The amount staked (half a million) is the same, and even some of the dialogue is similar to the film, which is doubly strange since by mentioning the film in episode 1 The Sting clearly exists in their 'universe'. The only difference is that whereas in The Sting the conmen pretended they had somebody in the Western Union Telegraph Company who saw the results of horse races then passed on the name of the winners so they could get a bet on the winner before the commentary was played in the club, in Hustle they pretended that they had an insider at a syndicate who knew the winners of the races before they were even run, which seems a bit less convincing to me, and would be even less so to somebody who knew their racing as well as the mark.
Episode titles
Where do the episode titles come from? I've never seen them anywhere else. --Bonalaw 11:44, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
The episode titles can be found on the DVD. WASTREL 15:00, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
Title Song?
The title song? anyone have any ideas on how to obtain a copy? I know it's by Simon Rogers, but am having difficulty getting my hands on it. thanks.
- The quality's not the toppermost, but you can get it in Real Media and mp3 formats here - scroll down to the Simon Rogers bit. --Bonalaw 17:46, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- I have a better copy of both the opening and ending theme's in mp3 format that can be downloaded in a .zip folder here here --JJMan 10:35, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
End credit song?
Does anyone know where I can get a copy on the song that is played during the end credits? Thanks.

Episodes
The episodes could do with updating. There is information on the bbc website, just needs interpreting and wikifying. I have changed the episode display to that like Life on Mars, as the old version was confusing and muddled.Michaelrccurtis 11:06, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Adrian Lester "rumor"
I deleted the following (atrocious spelling included): It is being rumoured that Adrian Lester will not be returning for the next series due to his persuit of film roles in America.
While not an unreasonable rumor, it still needs to be sourced. Have there been media reports or an official announcement that he's leaving the show, or is this just netrumor which can be ignored for now? 23skidoo 19:24, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Sadly this is not a rumour Steve 05:42, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Genre
How exactly is the main genre comedy? Ben davison 23:54, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- It isn't. michaelCurtis talk+ contributions 11:34, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- Changed it to drama until a better description can be found. michaelCurtis talk+ contributions 11:37, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- I never noticed the genre reference. It is correctly a "comedy-drama" as that's how it's described in TV listings here in Canada, for example. I made the change accordingly. The show is too light-hearted to be "a drama" but contains too many serious moments to be a "comedy". A decade ago we'd be calling it a dramedy but that term seems to have fallen out of vogue. The comedy in Hustle is more overt and up-front than the humor in otherwise dramatic series such as NCIS or Las Vegas which are primarily considered dramas with humorous overtones (this is primarily due to Hustle breaking the fourth wall usually in humorous fashion). But Hustle has been promoted as a comedy-drama so I think that genre works best for the infobox and intro paragraph. 23skidoo 15:15, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- Good idea, comedy alone just seemed the wrong genre...michaelCurtis talk+ contributions 07:49, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Violence
Is it worth noting the relative lack of violence in the series? Granted, Albert got bloodied in one episode, and there are occasions where faked violence has been used to further a con (as in the pilot episode), but otherwise Stone's team usually accomplish their goals without actually inflicting physical harm on anyone else. I don't know this might change in the 3rd season (we're only getting the first 2 seasons in Canada for now) but it is rather unusual. Thoughts? 23skidoo 18:47, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
It's pointless saying "this tv show is noted for it's lack of violence" as this is a negative rather than a positive. And in the case of Hustle it wouldn't be true, there is alot of violence in the show.
Albert: beaten up by a gangster. Danny: punched (at least twice) by Mickey, shot in the stomach by a gangster. Assualted a pimp in season three and offered to have a gangster beaten up for assulating Albert. Mickey: has been in prison for GBH - also faked his death in the pilot episode. Eddie: was badly bruised after being kicked in the chest by Mickey. Ash: Suffered from a skull fracture in a bar room brawl and uses this to work the flop.

DVD release

Comparison to Smith
Has there been anything in the media comparing the new American series "Smith" with Hustle? I've heard tell that it seems to be somewhat similar to the British series, in which case we can indicate in the article that Hustle might have influenced its development. 23skidoo 20:20, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Is it a remake? Steve 05:51, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- Not that I'm aware. The show was cancelled before I had a chance to see it, but it seems to have a similar theme -- a group of thieves working together on capers. However Smith is a far more violent show -- apparently in the first episode they kill innocent people in order to accomplish their goals -- whereas Hustle is virtually violence-free and Mickey's crew avoid doing scams that will cause injury to anyone. However on the surface one could see Hustle's influence both on Smith and the other caper series, Lords of Prosperity. (In fact, I think the latter might be even closer to Hustle because it's apparently a dramedy about a group of people pulling off ambitious heists and that's definitely along the same lines as Hustle) 23skidoo 14:38, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- A quick Google for the official site provides me with a blurb indicating the programme involved a gang that "plot and execute high-stakes robberies" - in fact very different to Heist; the former about common thieves and the latter conmen. Google surprisingly avails absolute naught for Lords of Prosperity. Anyway, I don't see why wanton comparison to any mere crime show is necessary. Unless we can source direct inspiration or reference it's best to leave out. --84.64.51.100 03:43, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- I think the reference was to Knights of Prosperity, which really is nothing like Hustle. I agree, comparisons aren't useful in this context. WLGades 03:05, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
British show to the USA before it hits home?
does anybody know why the USA have recieved the 4th season of the show before the UK.. hustle coming from the UK, i would have thought it would have been vice versa.. anybody know? Amstoakes 23:01, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- It's due to the amount of funding AMC have provided. 82.19.8.137 19:16, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- I contacted the BBC as normally the series would have been aired in the UK in march time or just before like the other series, but it was a lot later. So I guess it might have been to do with some american stuff although we deserve it first!
Mickey's Return
There's a line in the article that reports on Mickey Bricks returning for the end of the series. Is there any citation available for this? I noticed there's a citation needed tag there. I'd love it to happen, though. There's already speculation that he might return in the currently unannounced series five.
- There's nothing about it on IMDB, so I guess this must be false. Cactusrob 13:26, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
- Let's be honest, though, IMDB isn't the most accurate source on the 'net. And since the line in question has been removed, is there any citation that Mr. Lester will be returning in series five (as per the article? 82.31.15.75 11:49, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Copyrighted info
Seems that some information on this page has been copied straight from the AMC website. The text is as follows:
Billy Bond introduces himself as a work of art, a force of nature who can separate a mark from his money quicker than any man alive. A criminal delinquent in his youth, Billy feels a sense of injustice about the world and it's time for him to fight back. He's got the spirit and energy to be a great grifter and now he wants the wisdom that comes with experience.
And it can be found on hustle.amctv.com/the_setup/cast.jsp I'm checking the rest of the page for any copyright infringement. T. Moitie [talk] 14:31, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Seems incorrect
"the first rule of the con "you can't cheat an honest man" as the mark must think they have committed something illegal (and therefore won't go to the police)."
I don't think this is right, the mark's don't always perform illegal acts when they are conned. I belive this rule is more on the "they deserve it" side. RazerM 21:20, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- Which marks don't perform illegal acts? Not challenging, just trying to remember. The one I do remember was the Indian movie, but they didn't con him. WLGades 21:32, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
That is the first rule of the con, but the following statement is incorrect. They explain it as an honest man doesn't want something for nothing, a dishnest man does want something for nothing and therefore will agree to the terms of the deal offered by the gang NIKKKIN 18:55, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Series 5 Source
What is the source that the BBC have commisioned Series 5?
Bob McCracken - Joey Pepper
Should this character be moved up into the "Friends/Contacts" section? On the plus side, Albert does explicitly mention him as a 'friend' and he proves essential in working their con in ep. 4x06. However he has only been seen once. Views? --Christopher 22:59, 7 June 2007 (UTC) Tip was only seen once.Davie4264 19:19, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Trivia
- In Series 4, Big Daddy Calling, in one scene in the casino, Mickey can be seen in the background.

Cleanup
This article has a lot of potential, but it needs a real clean up before any of that potential can be released. It needs:
- Proper linking
- More character description
- A lot more references
- Episode plot descriptions, not just promotionally released stuff
- The current references need cleaning up
I'd be happy to contribute what I can, but it's too lean a task for just 1 person to do. After this weekends Formula One race I'll start doing some hard work on this. T. Moitie [talk] 16:02, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, there's another point too, the article lists far too much nn stuff. Most of that stuff can get deleted or merged into the synopsis of the episodes (like the mark information). T. Moitie [talk] 16:12, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi there, I've cleaned some stuff up, but there still needs to be more detail in characters and plot summaries. Thebestkiano 19:31, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Rambling
If the group were really that clever/had access to so many resources why not go (semi-)legitimate and make a fortune?
"If the group were really that clever/had access to so many resources why not go (semi-)legitimate and make a fortune?"
It's the thrills. Plus, as the saying goes, "only fools and horses work."
Whoever made a fortune legitimately? Plus most of them actually enjoy grifting.

Expansion
Would it be possible to expand season One episodes with more detail into individual pages. I would be happy to do this, if there is support for this to take place I shall proceed! T saston 01:28, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- That's a great idea. If you can add details to any others, please feel free to do so. Thebestkiano 08:05, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'll watch episode one first, of course, and compile some notes on a separate episode page based on others on Wikipedia. So ensure no one else starts it at same time! T saston 19:07, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- Changed the Hustle Template, at the bottom, to a green hue found in the title card. I thought it was appreciative than a sharper, brighter green which looks appalling against a hyper-link. Hope that's o.k., but feel free to change it back! T saston 20:25, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Hustlepicture5.jpg
Image:Hustlepicture5.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Card Game?
Does anyone know what game do Albert etc. play when they stick cards on their foreheads facing outside? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.163.212.199 (talk) 11:11, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- There's a game called "Up and down the river" which involves that. It's a trick-winning game. Each player is dealt a certain number of cards and announces how many tricks they're going to win - the total number of tricks called cannot be equal to the number of cards dealt, so the dealer often has to call something they wouldn't have normally called. The odd element of the game is (and this explains the title) the fact that each successive hand has a different number of cards. The firs deal there's only one card per player, the second there's two, then three, four - up to nine. After that it decreases - eight, seven, and back down to one (a total of 17 hands thus making up a game). The finalo twist is the first and last hand. Evey player only has one card, and they are the only player who is not allowed to see that card. So - everyone places their card face up on their forehead. Every player thus has to say whether or not they will win the trick without knowing what card they are holding. Grutness...wha? 22:48, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've never heard that name, but your description sounded like a variant of a game called Oh Hell, or Blackout, in Hoyle (there's a WP page for Oh Hell). Google says indeed they're the same game and the variant you describe is called Devil's Bridge. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.73.166.44 (talk) 02:15, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Danny joining the gang in ep1s1
The article, as it is now, seems to suggest that Danny Blue manages to convince the others (especially Mickey Bricks) to let him join. In reality, what happened was that Mickey Bricks wanted to lure Danny to join the band, and so he arranged things with the bar tender, so that Danny would be told about Mickey's group and his "last con", to get him interested. The rest was improvsed (you can't plan something like that in detail), but it was always Mickey's intention to get Danny to join the gang. He just pretended to be hostile and dismissive.--Peter Knutsen (talk) 08:27, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Series 5 Section
Right now it's a load of conjectural references which aren't really needed anymore. The fifth series is definitely happening so all the one's that say it is returning are right, and all the ones that say it isn't are wrong. We should erase them and just write something like "Series 5 is in production and will air in 2009". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.27.201.63 (talk) 11:23, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

- Wikipedia is not a forum, so in the future please ask your question on a TV forum as Television Without Pity or TV.com. But to answer your question, in my version there is no song at the given time. The song a little bit further along when Danny goes to his fantasy land is "Daydream in Blue" performed by I Monster. With just a little work you could have found it your self, just enter the lyrics in Google or use Shazam on the iPhone for example. Cyzor (talk) 11:43, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
