Ground Clearance, 'DM' series

edit

One thing not included in the dimensional specs is ground clearance. The CM years (2007~2012) had a very clean undercarriage. For 2013, some bright boy decided to wrap the exhaust under the rear axle -- the first thing someone who actually drives one of these where it's otherwise capable of going will accidentally scrape off. 2007 ~ 2012 = 8.1" of pretty doggone clean underside 2013 = 7.3". Doesn't sound like much of a difference, but have a look underneath and the hazard becomes obvious.

I'm not sure it's the one person mixing U.S. and Aussie SF stuff. It's very confusing mix-up, for example, it appears U.S. model years are used chronogically, but it's my understanding they don't have the model year concept down under; needs to be cleaned up.

Yes, that is me adding that information. I don't know how else to add in the information - any suggestions? Car makers do use model years here in Australia, but mostly internally. The public still doesn't really understand the concept. Davez621 11:59, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Santa Fe Back To RAV4/CR-V Competition!

edit

Because of the Veracruz competing against Highlander and Pilot, Santa Fe is back to competing against RAV4 and CR-V. The 2007 CR-V is shorter than the RAV4.

Tucson Vs. Element Vs. RAV4 Vs. Escape
Santa Fe Vs. CR-V Vs. RAV4/FJ Cruiser Vs. Edge
Veracruz Vs. Pilot Vs. Highlander Vs. Freestyle

However, with the Highlander moving to the full-size Avalon platform, this would mean the Edge or Santa Fe would be targeting the RAV4. -- Bull-Doser 03:18, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

oh, i found this page from hyundai website.
Hyundai Santa Fe's Similar Vehicles [1]

Was this a compact SUV that became a mid-size later?

edit

The first generation wheelbase, at 103 in., seems to be closer to other "compact" SUVs such as the Escape, which isn't listed as a "similar" vehicle. Was it still considered mid-sized when released? Or did it start as a compact and then became mid-sized later? Madmaxmarchhare 20:15, 30 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Santa Fe is still a compact crossover SUV. Even though the Veracruz (which measures 190 in., forming the size of a mid-size SUV like a Chevrolet TrailBlazer or Ford Explorer) is based off that platform, the Santa Fe continues as a compact crossover. Even though it is still compact, it competes with 7-passenger compact crossovers such as the Toyota RAV4 and Mitsubishi Outlander. -- Bull-Doser 21:11, 11 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
To Bull-Doser, sorry, everybody don't think so. that is your think. hyundai and SantaFe owner and other people do not think so.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Totoz (talkcontribs) 18:03, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

POV tag

edit

I noticed the {{NPOV}} tag on the article, but where were the disputes?

I could find no evidence of POV disputes, so I removed it.Hondasaregood 18:21, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

There's one minor instance regarding paint colors ("yucky green") that's unsourced - that's about all I could see. Possibly the battle on this talk page over the car's market position (CR-V/RAV4/whocares) set it off, but that's not a reason to tag the article itself as personal POV. Overall, the article's really in need of some cleanup - I might look into it later. Duncan1800 (talk) 08:26, 18 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Supposed North Korean version

edit

Lately, somebody here has been claiming that a version of the Santa Fe is being manufactured by the North Korean company Pyeonghwa Motors in the Czech Republic. Unfortunately, there is not enough evidence that such a vehicle exists. I checked out the official Pyeonghwa website and saw nothing about it. The user who posted said claim used a link from Odette Benelux as one of his references, but the article only mentions that Pyeonghwa manufactures door modules for Hyundai and Kia and there is nothing about a Santa Fe built by them. Therefore, I have deleted that user's entry on grounds of lack of evidence. - Areaseven (talk) 00:59, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

First Generation Beatle Like Shape

edit

No one has noted that the hyundai santa fe first generation, shape was reminicent of a beatle or bug, like the volkswagon beatle. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brendenhows (talkcontribs) 05:54, 6 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Cited numbers on dimensions

edit

I added a citation to the dimensions here to previously unsourced content. My edit was subsequently reverted. If there are variations due to location in the world, that is fine but must be referenced. My sourced numbers should not be removed to be replaced by unsourced numbers. Bahooka (talk) 04:34, 7 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you have a problem with any uncited content, especially a detailed one like the one you edited, you can put a "citation needed" tag instead of ruining the stats of the car by including a source which only lists the stats of one trim of the car in one region, also using a source that uses imperial units isn't the smartest thing to do when South Korea uses metric units and converting units back and forth can leads to slightly incorrect numbers. Alawadhi3000 (talk) 20:17, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for adding those references along with those two changes. That is the approach that I feel is appropriate under WP:V. I disagree with removing content with citations from a reliable source and replacing it with unsourced content with a cn tag, but for this article the situation regarding content and verifiability has been resolved in my opinion.
