Fair use rationale for Image:Ipencil.JPG
editImage:Ipencil.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Picture
editHow about a picture of a pencil?Larklight (talk) 19:33, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- How about this one? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PENCILWI.JPG 78.144.219.142 (talk) 14:40, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
How about another picture, of a pencil NOT made in China! I don't think the current Chinese system is very representative of the Ideals espoused in the Essay the picture is intended to represent. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.52.37.204 (talk) 19:14, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
Invisible hand
editIn the quotation in the article, the phrase "invisible hand" is used twice. It has been wikilinked to the article Invisible hand, which is about "a term used by Adam Smith to describe the unintended social benefits of individual self-interested actions".
But here in the quotation, it seems to be linked to the idea of the hand of God, rather than Adam Smith's usage, "Instead, we find the invisible hand at work. ... Since only God can make a tree, I insist that only God could make me."
Therefore, I will remove the wikilink for "invisible hand". Hope this is agreeable. Pete unseth (talk) 16:19, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
- I disagree. He is clearly talking about the same concept. Relating it to God does not change its basic meaning. I'm restoring the wikilink. 2620:0:1045:F:7081:C6E1:DB3E:B37A (talk) 11:18, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
Template:Wikisource
editWhat do you think about moving the Template:Wikisource into the body the article, just below the picture of the pencil? On one hand, the essay itself is a reference on the other hand, this article is about the this essay, thus my thinking there would be value in making it more discoverable to readers.
