Merge proposal
editThis seems to be the same as Vancouver guidelines and also Vancouver system. If they are the same, then these pages ought to be merged. WhatamIdoing (talk) 23:44, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
- agree. All three articles seem mainly redundant. Calimo (talk) 16:42, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- Merge, as duplicate topics. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 20:35, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
I redirected the stub Vancouver guidelines to Vancouver system. I don't know if the latter should be merged here. The name "Vancouver system" and style seem to be used in more than just the originating medical journals, and this article is mostly about the organization that created the standard; this article even includes a link to Vancouver system. But three articles was definitely redundant. oknazevad (talk) 15:56, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
- Disagree I did not check the other articles, but the title of a merged article should refer to "Vancouver" and not isolate the system to medicine. It is used in many different fields and the title "Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals" is too narrow. Thermofan (talk) 19:46, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
- Comment - if any merging is going to take place, I would suggest merging "Uniform (...)" to "Vancouver system" instead of the other way around, per WP:COMMONNAME. - TaalVerbeteraar (talk) 16:38, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- Disagree strongly I do not agree with merging - this is not "the same as Vancouver" because Vancouver is only about formatting and presentation whereas the Uniform Requirements cover author responsibility, ethics and many other elements of the scientific process leading up to creation of the article. 201.34.147.99 (talk) 10:23, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
Out of Date
editAdditionally, it seems that ICMJE doesn't publish the Uniform requirements any more - they have been replaced with the "Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly work in Medical Journals.". Unfortunately the link to ICMJE at the bopttom of this page says it leads to the Uniform Requirements, but it does not. It leads to the ICMJE page which now offers the "Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly work in Medical Journals." and has no0 mention of the Uniform Requirements. THis article is therefore now historic and someone who knows what they're doing should archive a copy of the Uniform Requirements and alter the link, prior to including a new link to ICMJE that is correctly labeled and mention the change in the text. 201.34.147.99 (talk) 10:28, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- Done. I've now updated the article title and the mentioned link Mikael Häggström (talk) 15:05, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
