I had the impression that II Corps was established to cover the whole of south-east Australia -- i.e. NSW, Vic, Tas and SA -- rather than just the Sydney region. A whole corps devoted to Sydney would have been a luxury at the time. Grant65 | Talk 14:13, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- Not really - a lot of Australian army units south of Queensland were concentrated in Newcastle-Bathurst-Wollongong area in order to defend this critical region from attack. I believe that this force consisted of several divisions and fortress units. I believe that the small number of units in Eastern Australia not in Queensland or the Sydney area were under the direct command of either the 2nd Army or Land Headquarters. --Nick Dowling 07:22, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
