Flyable Aircraft

The list is false. In the original game (IL-2 Sturmovik) there are only 11 flyable planes with multiple variants of the same plane. They are all single engine aircraft. --Haizum μολὼν λαβέ 20:34, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

I don't think that's a good reason for a dispute tag, it says under the heading that the list is correct for the '46 pack. The list is exactly what it purports to be. 121.45.163.212 10:53, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

The list includes all aircraft flyable in the 1946 pack. That is what the title states, therefore the list is correct. Brophmeister 03:28, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

I've modified the list because of some inconsistent naming of the flyable aircraft. Example: Before it said "A-20C Douglas\Havoc", but in fact also the A-20G version is flyable. Another slight error is that the Gloster Gladiator was named "Gloster J8 Gladiator" in the Allied list of aircraft, but "J8" is the Swedish designation of the model Gloster Gladiator Mk.I. This means that firstly; the J8 designation should not be included in the Allies list, and secondly; the designation "J8" should be "J8A", because that is the correct variant of Gladiator (Mk.II not Mk.I) used by the Swedish Airforce at that time. (Those aircraft were flown in the Finnish Airforce as volunteers, therefore the game counts them as Axis) The list should maybe be modified again, and either include all variants of flyable aircraft or include no variants at all. Also, "nicknames" that Axis forces had given Allied aircraft should be entered in as great extent as possible, as the current list sports almost exclusivly Allied nicknames given to Axis aircraft. 79.138.209.216 (talk) 10:32, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Screenshot?

I'm not sure why it's insulting, but you are free to upload a different screen shot. I personally think it would be better to have a picture of the box cover in the infobox and put the screen shot somewhere in the article. swaq 17:05, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Mods?

This game has been modded for well over a year, and has a sizable modding community. The mods have replaced most stock sounds, and made another several dozen planes flyable by human players. Recently, many brand new maps - such as a complete map of the The Slot in the Solomon Islands - have been created by the mod community. Do you think it should have a mention in here? Is there a policy for such things on official game pages like this re: hacked/modded etcc? Just curious. I could write a section if deemed appropriate. Aircraft list error

I should point out that the Heinkel 177 is not in the flyable aircraft list in the '46 version. Is there any reason it's on this list? 71.191.50.37 (talk) 22:06, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

umm.. you forgot Preflight which can help alot of ppl on the net looking for skins and airplains.. its an herbew site.. but its a very good site.. here: *Preflight, an Israeli simulation fan site with an active Flight Simulator community check befor adding in main article..

Splitting off to IL-2 Sturmovik (video game series)

It seems like most of the article right now actually discusses the series, and not the first game itself. I recommend splitting that content off to a separate article about the series.
