Merger proposal

edit

In the absence of objections, I propose to convert IMR Legendary Powders to a redirect and merge its content into Hodgdon Powder Company with some changes to the Improved Military Rifle (IMR) article. This article updates the Hodgdon and IMR article, with some duplication of the earlier History sections of the DuPont article. This article seems focused on the Hodgdon Powder Company subsidiary, while the IMR article is focused on the Improved Military Rifle propellant formulation rather than the broader range of propellants subsequently developed by DuPont and now distributed by Hodgdon under the IMR trade name. I will update the IMR article to include current production of the IMR propellant formulations but move the section on Trail Boss into the Hodgdon article with most of the remainder of this article. • I'd agree that there is some need to merge it, but I'm not familiar enough with them to know whether Hodgdon or IMR is the best target.
IMR Legendary Powders is a brand, not a company, and the article is focussed on the product range. A product range that's illustrated by the same series of package images that are in the IMR article. I'll leave it to other as to where it best belongs, but if this range is "modern" and "strongly modern Hodgdon" rather than historical IMR, then should those images be in the IMR article? If not ("IMR" is for the historical company) then I'd even be inclined to leave this article alone, and link more extensively to Hodgdon, rather than merging it there. • While IMR Legendary Powders is a brand distributing Improved Military Rifle propellants (among others), the latter term refers to a specific propellant manufacturing process, different from Cordite, Ball propellant, and the other formulations distributed under the brand. I have no objections to moving contemporary product packaging photos (and the Trail Boss text) to the brand article, but I suggest leaving the manufacturing history in a separate article. I've changed my mind with regard to merging this with improved military rifle. I want to retract that suggestion. How do I do so? Digitallymade (talk) 16:19, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, IMHO, this article must treat "IMR Legendary Powders" as a brand, not as a company... Hodgdon distribute some of the powder using this name. take a look at pt:IMR Legendary Powders --MarcRic::Ruby (talk) 07:50, 25 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
