Plex / XBMC support?

edit

Don't both Plex and XBMC media centres both offer ITV Player? If so should be mentioned in article surely. Jimthing (talk) 14:07, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

On Samsung Blu-Rays? Don't think so

edit

A citation to http://advanced-television.com/2012/07/06/itv-player-on-samsung-smart-tvs/ mentions 2011 and 2012 smart Blu Ray and TV, but a comment here http://recombu.com/digital/news/itv-player-comes-to-samsung-smart-tvs_M10735.html says otherwise, and in fact many complaints over the internet can be found to a similar tune. Oh, and it doesn't work on my own, and when I contacted ITV, they told me no planned support. The tiny article cited at http://advanced-television.com/2012/07/06/itv-player-on-samsung-smart-tvs/ is factually incorrect. Again, from searching on google, it appears that only the TVs are supported. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.73.20.197 (talk) 18:26, 12 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Is this page out of date?

edit

I see on the Google Play store that ITV Player is available for all my devices, including a Google Nexus 7. The article seems to imply that it is only available on Samsung devices.

Also, there is no mention of what video platform is used to deliver. I am pretty sure I don't have Flash on my mobiles but I could be wrong. Does the App use HTML5? On my PC it uses Flash. 51kwad (talk) 11:39, 14 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Playstation 3

edit

The infobox says this is supported on the Playstation 3. The article says it is not. Can anyone clarify? https://itvhub.uservoice.com/forums/247805-the-itv-hub/suggestions/10833072-itv-player-on-ps3 --Darrelljon (talk) 11:11, 8 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

It was available on the PS3 until the end of last year, however the only thing I have to back that up is my PS3 and my own eyes. -- AxG /  10 years of editing 18:17, 8 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Misc

edit

No mention of its instability compared to competing BBC iPlayer? Also when it crashes you have to reload the page, meaning you have to sit through the adverts again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.104.109.8 (talk) 00:13, 24 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

As this is a 1-Star Google rated app, I agree. Utterly abysmal, 'TECH' from an earlier or even different age?
It's impossible to watch anything unless you do not: PAUSE PRESS 'BACK' OR ADJUST ANYTHING!!!
THIS ENTIRE ARTICLE IS NONESENSE. Have a go, it's available across the planet. What a LOAD OF JUNK. 2A00:23C8:2907:5501:89CA:7504:CA3:7CB9 (talk) 13:38, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh boy, is this player junk. A 1973 BINATONE PONG with corroded battery terminals will stomp all over this piece of gyp. 2A00:23C8:2907:5501:89CA:7504:CA3:7CB9 (talk) 14:00, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Missing info on how it works -- eg. no FF, RW, or skipping ads until program has been seen once already with them (I don't know enough to update this myself; because I think it's as crap as ITV's 'lowest common denominator' programming, so i don't use it). Also, many hyperlinks are not done -- eg. Project Canvas is what exactly; needs a page doing, or a simple explanation. Jimthing (talk) 00:58, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

You are too kind. I believe in the second incarnation, SIX MILLION £s was spent on V2. A paltry amount. ITV rakes that in over around 2 hours of prime TV...
itv should simply scrap it... 2A00:23C8:2907:5501:89CA:7504:CA3:7CB9 (talk) 14:05, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

What the 'eck is a "distinct proposition" in real English. This is meant to be an encyclopaedia. •Λmniarix• (talk) 10:32, 21 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

ITVX and ITV Hub very different services

edit

Should this page be archived as ITV Hub and a new separate page created for ITVX ? The potential for confusion seems quite high as the two services are significantly different and especially device support is different - at the very least a table is needed there not just textual paragraphs, once it becomes clear which devices actually support ITVX after the Dec 8th launch. 2A0E:3700:201E:9001:EC26:DD34:528D:FE0A (talk) 14:24, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Already tried that.

Subtitles

edit

I’ve always found that very few ITVHUB streams had subtitles. Unfortunately initial impressions seems to be the same for ITVX streams. Just watching “Litvinenko”. No subtitles available. This contrasts very poorly with BBC’s iplayer where virtually all programmes have subtitles 82.47.69.169 (talk) 21:46, 16 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

subtitles are available for me for Litvinenko so don't agree with the comment Johntybutler (talk) 17:35, 17 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

ITV Hub section

edit

ITVX isn't a rebrand of ITV Hub, and most entries on ITV Hub are unsourced. Since it's pointless to spin-off what little verified information there is on ITV Hub into its own separate article, I've created a new section for the old app. Thecleanerand (talk) 14:47, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
