Talk:IUCN Red List endangered animal species

Latest comment: 13 years ago by R'n'B in topic Overlinking

Here are some logos for animal species (for their own page) that are endangered: http://www2.uiah.fi/~juliukko/tmp/endangered---wikipedia.jpg

At the moment they're copyrighted by me, but if you find them usable or want to use in wikipedia project, please contact me and we can make them licensed suitable for wikipedia for free of charge. please email me in that case before using them anywhere!

It is up to you to decide wether they are suitable or not. i have discussed with one member in irc about them earlier. email juliukko at the domain above (@uiah.fi)

Copyedit

edit

This page needs copyediting in 2 respects:

  • Fix redlinks. but beware:
  • as it is based on a bot's work, it is full of non-English names (French, Spanish etc - not local names, these may well be included) from the IUCN Red List; these should be deleted. It is also chock-full of faulty orthography needing to be fixed. Dysmorodrepanis 06:09, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I copy edited the introduction to the article. I removed the copy edit tag because I figured that there couldn't be too many problems with the actual list, but if you see anything else, you can add it back on. Oddmartian2 15:40, 7 September 2007 (UTC)My TalkReply

Achatinella

edit

I created a list of the endangered Achatinella species, leaving Achatinella Endangered on the list. Hope it helps.

I think that you should only have the English names and not all of the latin ones —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.145.241.194 (talk) 18:58, 25 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think the names should be given in English. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.60.19.156 (talk) 10:18, 14 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

To those requesting that the names be in English, many of these may not even have English names. In the case of Achatinella, these are snails... correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm under the impression that there are far more snail species than there are English names to describe them. ~rezecib (talk) 16:58, 14 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Overlinking

edit

Per WP:OVERLINK, there is no reason to have two, three, or four links to the same article on each line of this list. Either link to the scientific name or to the common name; there is no need to link both, unless they have separate articles for some reason. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 21:23, 13 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
