Versions
editThe poem appears to exist in two forms. The final two lines of the first stanza read:
"Like shadows in love’s frenzied stifled throes And yet I am, and live—like vapours tossed"
and
"Like shades in love and death's oblivion lost; And yet I am, and live with shadows tost"
in another version. The two references in the article give one of each.
