Ships = Camels?
editI've been pondering this song for the past few days, and my sister mentioned that Camels have been referred to as "ships of the desert" -- this would be a much more likely explanation. I googled "camel ships desert" and found a lot of supporting references. I don't have the time to write it up, but I think this worth including as one probable interpretation of the song.

I also agree that this should be looked into - I am almost certain that the song refers to 'ships of the desert' as camels rather than actual boats, but I can't find any decent sources to back it up. I would attempt to re-write this part of the article but Wikipedia has rather tight rules and regulations that seem to end up deleting my contribution anyway. Would someone who is familiar with wikipedia look into this please? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.76.225.68 (talk) 16:22, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- That's an interesting idea. I never thought of that before. I'll definitely try to look into that. Thanks! Oldiesmann (talk) 23:20, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
Melody in .ogg file
editThe melody in the ogg file isn't right. Please compare the melody of this song with the melody in the ogg file. In the first and third lines, "I saw three ships come sailing in", all notes except "ships" and "in" are correct. In the second line, "On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day", only the final "Day" is correct. On the fourth line, only the last syllable of "morning" is correct.
