Francisco or Francesco ?
editPlease verify in a reliable source (e.g. Julian Budden or the Grove). 81.63.99.144 (talk) 21:07, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- Budden says "Francesco" - cast list, vol. 1, p.174, Cassell 1984. Viva-Verdi (talk) 00:36, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Opera Grove agrees - "Francesco" - Vol 1, p. 1264, sv "Due Foscari, I", article by Roger Parker. But actually, it's a no-brainer: Francesco is an Italian forename (Francesco Cavalli, Francesco Petrarca, San Francesco, etc.) and thus appropriate for a Doge of Venice who was actually called Francesco Foscari. Francisco is a Spanish forename, as in San Francisco, Francisco Franco, Francisco Goya. --GuillaumeTell 01:20, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
Additional recording: I won't add this, because I would botch formatting, but there is an additional recording to those mentioned here (I am listening to this as I write): by the Orchestra E Coro Del Teatro La Fenice Di Venezia, Tullio Serafin conducting, issued on the Hallmark label in 2010 — Preceding unsigned comment added by PaulAlanLevy (talk • contribs) 23:03, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
