B-class review

edit

Not B-class but close. Issues to address: 1) I see a number of misspellings, please use spellchecker on this article; third paragraph is missing a full stop at the end. 2) Add info about his birth place and date to bio. 3) All tournaments are probably notable, and should be ilinked; if not, please explain here why certain tournaments are not notable. 4) Link and Anders on first use, link 2nd Polish Corps. 5) Disambiguate Polish Resistance to correct formation, almost certainly AK (cite if necessary). 6) Wojskowa Służba Ochrony Powstania is incorrectly piped, it should be red (or stubbed), pl:Wojskowa Służba Ochrony Powstania. 7) Merge some short paragraphs for more pleasant look. B-review for WP:POLAND on hold pending those issues being addressed. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 15:20, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I will work on it soon. As for the tournaments the main problem with them is that people at WP:TENNIS hasn't yet set a guideline regarding their notability. There weren't prize moneys, tournie categories, ranking points to distinguish them. Although not every of them is notable, e.g. as you can see there were two tournaments in Nice within 15 days, and it is almost true for every major riviera city in France. In Engand even three indoors championships were held in the same venue within a year. Therefore I only link the ones that have been continued to this day and thus already has a link, and only red-link those that have articles in other sister language wikiprojects. Instead I link the venues, where it is possible. Lajbi Holla @ meCP 18:28, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough. One final request: can you expand the lead? It is very short. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 22:04, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes. I'm already expanding his tennis career so a summary of it could be added to the lead. Lajbi Holla @ meCP 22:08, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

A wrong tense in the phrase "and find a job at an insurance company".89.69.82.3 (talk) 09:44, 2 November 2012 (UTC) A missing "in" in the phrase "He first participated the Polish Championship".89.69.82.3 (talk) 09:45, 2 November 2012 (UTC) "In 1947 he participated in an international match between Poland and Great Britain still wearing the Polish colors." Given that he had been declared stateless by Poland, it is not clear if he was a member of the British or Polish team during this competition. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.69.82.3 (talk) 10:01, 2 November 2012 (UTC) "whereas he was subdued" should probably read "as he was subdued".89.69.82.3 (talk) 10:03, 2 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Corrected these issues. As for the match between Poland and Great Britain it is uncertain which team he represented. I found sources for both sides, but it is sure that he kept wearing his Polish uniform. Lajbi Holla @ meCP 10:46, 2 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Passed as B-class. I recommend taking it to WP:GAN in the near future. Good job! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 16:46, 2 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
