Using the imperial measures less than 2 feet may be given in inches only, anything over that is given in feet and inches. It is a matter of established usage. The article had imperial measurements even before you touched it. Motor vehicles typically have inch figures, even if anything is longer than two foot, and all Wikipedia articles on automobiles will have inch figures only. The template Infobox automobile doesn't seem to use foot. And to me, that doesn't appear unreasonable. I mean, there is a reason why the Land Rover came in the 90 and 110 models; they were not called the 7½ and the 9. Railway-related examples are misplaced here, I reckon. Now the reason why I reverted your edit is that you totally failed to use reasonable and meaningful conversions, and I am convinced that all you did was make the article worse. Seriously, nobody cares whether the article uses a template or a manual conversion for converting units. At least I don't. But what I do care about is that the article doesn't convert source information into absolute rubbish, (and that the text doesn't include some misplaced brackets and pipes). I kindly asked you to be more careful, but your editing bevahaviour demonstrates that you really don't care at all. Don't you check whether the figures remain the same after editing the article? I strongly advise you to do so. Again, I don't mind additions to the article, it's a wiki anyone can edit, as long as the additions are conducted both reasonably and carefully.
