Who misconstures?
edit"Meanwhile, the boys misconstrue what circumcision entails, and try to save Kyle's younger brother Ike from his upcoming bris." The boys construe what circumcision entails very well: "choppin' up wee-wees". It is the show that misconstrues it, when Ike is circumcised, says "Ouch", and gets up as if nothing had happened. This is not possible. --Hugh7 (talk) 04:21, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Mr. Mackey's head
editI have a question: in this episode, it is stated that Mr. Mackey's head is so extraordinary large because his tie is very tight. However, in Proper Condom Use, he states that while he growed up, his head enlarged, while the rest of his body remained the same. Also, he removed his tie in that episode and his head remained the same. Should this be listed as a continuity error?--Orthologist 15:32, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- I would take the approach that imdb.com does, which is to say that in an animated comedy series, where the emphasis is on laughs, changes in characters' relationships, personalities, backstories, etc. cannot be regarded as "goofs" and that "breaks" in continuity are even used intentionally to wring additional humor out of the stories. Censorship
editI just watch the episode on canadian channel "The Comedy Network" and it's really uncensored. Mr. Mackey says "bullshit" without being beeped. I then watch the scene on the website, and strangely it's censored. But I think they take the ones of the DVD. --Pascalbg (talk) 02:02, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- An earlier version of this article included a paragraph about censorship of the "bullshit" line. This was removed in preparation for achieving Good Article status for the article, for issues with notability and verfiaibility. Here is the paragraph, in case somebody finds a reliable source for the incident in the future. --Mondotta (talk) 15:10, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
Paragraph about censorship from revision 473805341 On the first airing of the episode, at 10 PM ET, the word bullshit was uncensored – the first unexpurgated occurrence of the word shit on the series at the time.[1][2] South Park Studios usually sends their episodes to Comedy Central with the appropriate bleeps already in place.[3][4] However, this instance of the word was uncaught by the time the episode first aired. In the broadcasts that immediately followed this initial airing – such as the 10 PM PT viewing the same day –, the phrase was censored by way of muting the audio during the word.[1] In later airings and releases, the word is censored with the usual audio bleep.[1][5][6][7] In Canada, the original, uncensored version has been broadcast on occasion.[8] In an article, Doug Herzog, who was president of Comedy Central at the time, had talked about watching a certain South Park episode on television that contained an uncensored occurrence of "the most common of sexual obscenities", because the network received the episode only that day and it was rushed to air.[9] He mentioned having been worried about protests from viewers, but admitted that the network "didn't even get one call".[9] It is possible that Herzog was discussing this particular incident in "Ike's Wee Wee".[10]

Uncited references
editUncited since Feb 08;
- In the original airing, Mr. Mackey tells off Jimbo, stating that he's not going to listen to his "authoritative, right-wing bullshit!" with the word "bullshit" uncensored (marking the first time that "shit" has been spoken on South Park without getting bleeped out [citation needed] ). All reruns and the Season 2 DVD version have the word bleeped out, but airings on the Canadian cable channel The Comedy Network have the word uncensored. [citation needed]
- In syndication, Cartman's line "the fireman spitting when you rub its helmet" (in reference to why a man's penis shouldn't be cut off) was cut. It is not cut from the reruns on Comedy Central. [citation needed]
- The pronunciation of "bris" marks Kyle's family as Ashkenazi Jews. [citation needed]
- The alphabet panel above the blackboard contains the rearranged letters "DiOsMiOhAnMaTaDoHaKeNnYbAsTaRdOs..." which is the alternate-cased, space-removed, no punctuation, with misspelling Spanish phrase for "Oh my God, they killed Kenny, you bastards" which is the popular catchphrase shared by Stan and Kyle upon witnessing Kenny's death. The phrase in Spanish is "¡Dios mío han matado a Kenny! Bastardos...".
- The Israeli Psytrance group Alien Project has a song entitled "Who has the Marijauna" on their "Don't Worry, Be Groovy" album that centers around samples of Mr. Mackey from this episode.
- The second half of the episode begins with a short musical introduction that resembles the theme song for the television show, Seinfeld.
Where's the cultural influence info, mkay?
editThe character Mr. Mackey has popularized the verbal cue "m'kay" in pop culture today. I know the word existed before, but it didn't become common in casual conversation until the year this episode was aired. I currently don't have any sources to cite, but there should be some material out there to suggest this.--Spectatorbot13 (talk) 07:15, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Refferance to Mr. Bean?
editAt the sequence where Ike is kicked on to a train, they are playing a certain tune by plucking violins. It reminds me of Mr. Beans attempt to get in to a postbag in order to leave a train station. Ofcourse we know he ends up in Moscow. Is there a refferance to Mr. Bean? Are there other South Park epiksodes where they mock fun at Mr. Bean? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.164.222.176 (talk • contribs) 23:47, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Bias?
editPutting "cured" and "addiction" in quotation marks seems a little odd. If there's not a citation for this usage, it seems to indicate a pro-drug bias. (Actually, that's true even if there is a citation, but since it would then be the creators' bias rather than a Wikipedia editor's, it's notably more valid to include it in the article.)68.105.71.75 (talk) 16:54, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Hey! I loved this episode, so I will review this article. Basilisk4u (talk) 06:01, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Review
edit- Lead
- Add a sentence about critical reception in the lead
- Since there is only one direct review referenced in the "Reception and impact" section, and another favorable mention from the same author (and I can't find any more reviews), I don't know how to write a sentence that would paint a genuine picture about the episode's reception. Any suggestions? --Mondotta (talk) 16:35, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- I searched the episode on the online database Proquest, and I found a quote from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that can be added to the reception: you could say The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette praised the episode's ending, explaining "OK, putting him on a freight train to Nebraska might not have been the best idea, but all's well in the end, and Kyle and the boys learn a lesson about family values that even Dan Quayle would approve of." If you are interested, I will add it in with the sourcing since I couldn't find a link to it online. I think having these in the article is enough to warrant a short "The episode received positive reviews from critics" in the lead. Basilisk4u (talk) 17:28, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tip, I found the article! I added the following sentence to the lead: "'Ike's Wee Wee' received positive responses from fans, as well as critics who especially praised the episode for its touching moments." I expanded this sentence further in the "Reception and impact" section, and added the info from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article there as well. --Mondotta (talk) 16:00, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

- Plot
- "Mackey is given a joint, and later tries out some LSD." Given a joint by who?
- Rewrote sentence to: "A desperate Mackey gives in to trying cannabis, and later, LSD." Is this better? --Mondotta (talk) 16:35, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- "Upon discovering this, Kyle decides that Ike is not his 'real brother' and he no longer cares about him. Kenny dies at this point when he falls into an empty grave and is crushed by a gravestone. His parents are shocked by what has happened, and Ike is retrieved from Nebraska." The part about Kenny makes these sentences a bit confusing. It sounds as though Kenny's parents are shocked by what has happened. You would think they would be used to Kenny dying by now ;)
- Removed sentence about Kenny's death, as it is not an important plot point. --Mondotta (talk) 16:35, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

This part seems a bit ambiguous, and I do not think the source given for the possibility that he is discussing this episode is reliable.
- Removed this paragraph. --Mondotta (talk) 16:35, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- Themes
- Great!
- Cultural references
- "...people watching Teletubbies while high on marijuana or on rehab." change to "in rehab".
- Done. --Mondotta (talk) 16:35, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- Sourcing
- References 21, 24, 27, and 29 are not reliable.
- True. (Also, #20 should be unreliable too by that measure.) However, without these references, basically the whole paragraph about the word bullshit would be left without any citations. Any suggestions? (I left these in for the time being.) --Mondotta (talk) 16:35, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- Hmmm. I think that if there are no reliable sources for the incident, it is probably not notable enough to be in the article. Sorry about that :( Basilisk4u (talk) 17:28, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oh well. I removed the paragraph. I moved it to the talk page, under the section "Censorship", for future reference. --Mondotta (talk) 16:00, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

- Reference 44 is not reliable and does not seem to be needed anyway, since the statement is sourced with reference 43.
- Removed #44, and also fixed #43, which is no longer a dead link. (I also archived it using WebCite.) --Mondotta (talk) 16:35, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

- Make sure all references have the publishers listed.
- I have added publisher for the Beatles book. Could you please point out if you see any other reference without the necessary info? --Mondotta (talk) 16:35, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- The magazine and newspaper references also need publishers, they are references 5, 8, 13, 15, and 16. Basilisk4u (talk) 17:28, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- I have added publisher information for these. I hope that the data I gave is right. I found it difficult to locate this information. --Mondotta (talk) 16:00, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Episode number?
editOn SouthParkStudios.com this episode and Chickenlover are swapped (meaning this episode is number four and Chickenlover is number three). Does anyone know why this is and if it should be corrected? Or does the DVD set include the numbering used in this article? (NBMATT (talk) 18:04, 21 May 2012 (UTC))
- The current iteration of SouthParkStudios.com has the original airdates wrong for these two episodes. According to the correct airdates, this is the third episode, and Chickenlover is the fourth. I have supplied plenty of evidence for the correct aidates. South Park episode articles follow the order of the original broadcast. (Nonetheless, the production number for this episode is 204, and Chickenlover is 203; but production codes often don't follow the broadcast order.)
- Since production codes do not reflect episode sequence, I don't see why broadcast date should either. Episodes can be and are broadcast out of sequence. IMDB and the official South Park website itself list Chickenlover as episode 3 and Ike's Wee Wee as episode 4, and they should be taken as the definitive source rather somebody's personal predilection. If you think the information on those 2 websites is incorrect then you should seek to have them correct it, not insist on conflicting information being carried by Wikipedia (which is not designed to be an original source, or whatever the term is).
