I disagree, I've hardly ever heard "Illuminati" used in the singular, although that would be the correct term. Conversely, a lot of people refer to the Illuminatus! trilogy (which has a fair amount of influence, even today, in some circles) usually refer to it simply as "Illuminatus". Therefore, it should probably left as it is currently, if not reverted to the original.
