- Just so you know, I cleaned up the article. If I were you, I'd double-check all of the citations since I corrected both spelling and grammatical errors in nearly all of them. Deucalionite (talk) 22:26, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
in that time helens and latins used to work for illyrians in many field including building things for illyrians any lots of other trades ... as illyrians weren't a working class they were lass of warriors and pirates, and helens and latins had trade in bulding side and making things for illyrians 10378SBC (talk) 02:36, 6 July 2018 (UTC)
Verification needed
editGiven the previous record of main contributors of the article verification is needed since all the sources are offline.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 23:23, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- As I see everything is properly referenced and online (in gbooks for example). If someone believes that specific editors might be problematic (can't see one at least in this history log) he should initiate an wp:ae instead else it can be easily considered an wp:npa violation.Alexikoua (talk) 14:17, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well the main contributor was brought to AE by an admin but he left wikipedia during that AE and there is no npa violation. I can't verify
the main source on gbooksmost of the sources, because only a snippet view is available but from what I can verify there is snippet misuse [2].--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 14:21, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Proposed move
edit- Since your move is highly controversial (its about the type not the origin) and unexplained plz initiate a proper move request.Alexikoua (talk) 14:51, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- Why is it controversial? None of the sources says Illyrian type helmet but Illyrian helmet.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 14:53, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

- Actually you said that you can't read the sources... (what's this or placement?). Unfortunately google seems to disagree with you:
- [[3]] "Illyrian helmet" 1480 hit and (most of them place the "Illyrian" with umlauts)
- [[4]] "illyrian type helmet" 8.310.
Since this move apart is highly problematic (8vs1 wins the previous title). I restore the current title. In case you have precise arguments plz initiate a discussion instead of wp:ninja moves.Alexikoua (talk) 15:05, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- Checked every ref again I can only assume that we have wp:idontlikeit activity. In case 'or' isn't specified it has to go. By the way this is another briliant work of Megistias (and fully sourced).Alexikoua (talk) 18:51, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
both names are fine but ive seen 'illyrian helmet' (and 'greco-illyrian helmet' or '"illyrian" helmet'...illyrian in quotes for the obvious reasons that it wasnt really illyrian) used much more often than 'illyrian type helmet'...google searches arent good since many of them point to wiki sources..85.75.248.252 (talk) 09:08, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
snodgrass for example calls it '"illyrian" helmet'..85.75.248.252 (talk) 09:09, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- Since there was apparently a move and revert, and discussion here has moved from verification to naming, I split this thread to "Proposed move". Also, I'd like to renew that naming discussion. Apparently it wasn't so highly controversial when a user moved 'Phrygian type helmet' to 'Phrygian helmet'. Why is this move so controversial? The Google BOOKS results I get are 50 hits for "Illyrian type helmet" and 296 hits for "Illyrian helmet". For Google SCHOLAR I get 2 hits for "Illyrian type helmet" and 39 hits for "Illyrian helmet". We generally ignore simple Google web search results because these usually include a lot of Wikipedia mirrors. The book and scholar results tend to be far more indicative. So if we're applying WP:COMMONNAME, it seems that 'Illyrian helmet' wins out over 'Illyrian type helmet'. This is also in keeping with the naming conventions principle of using the least disambiguation necessary (no need to disambiguate 'Illyrian type helmet' from 'Illyrian helmet' in the context of article naming). Whether this is a sometimes misnomer (some helmets of the type not actually being Illyrian) can be clarified in the lead and where necessary with specific examples. 》a large number of early finds came from Illyria《
editIf this helmet was really "greek"; and illyrians adopted the helmet (like the editors of this entry are trying to say) ... then... should not a large number of early finds actually come from Geece and not Illyria!?SKA-KSI (talk) 22:14, 11 August 2019 (UTC)
False citation in 6
editcitation 6 states "...in fact a purely Albanian type...", however no where in the cited literature appears this wording. It would be indeed surprising if it did, since the cited literature treats a time period when Albanians do not appear. This makes the naming of the helmet in the article as "Albanian-Illyrian" absurd and, indeed, afalsification as it does not appear as such in *any* of the cited bibliography 2A00:801:2F3:7187:513:9BDB:6834:8232 (talk) 22:02, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
