– Imelda should WP:REDIRECT to Imelda Marcos because of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC: The film Imelda is named after her. Three towns are named after her first name: Imelda, Biliran, Imelda, Bohol, and imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay. Imeldific (talk) 03:45, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

Survey
edit- Strong speedy procedural close WP:FORUMSHOPPING discussed and closed at Talk:Imelda Marcos; opening a new discussion here with a second bite at the apple is wrong. -- 67.70.32.190 (talk) 04:49, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
- Strong oppose. The other discussion was technically withdrawn by the nominator, so I'm not sure a procedural close is supportable. However, it is indeed a second bite at the apple, conducted here to obscure the fact that the same proposal in another place drew universal opposition. I must also oppose it, not only because of the procedural issue, but because of the simple fact that Mrs. Marcos is not primarily known as just "Imelda", at least not outside of the Phillipines. 209.211.131.181 (talk) 05:47, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
- From The Steel Butterfly Still Soars. The New York Times. October 6, 2012: “When I listen to the giddy beat of “Here Lies Love,” I can’t help but recall Imelda’s optimistic take on events when I interviewed her in Malacanang Palace in 1985, as the “People Power” protests were gaining force and just a few months before she was forced to flee.”
- From My afternoon with Imelda Marcos. Fortune. January 9, 2014.: Imelda claims the media unjustly blackened her reputation and the legacy of the Marcos regime. “The media is more powerful than the gun,” she says, using one of her favorite expressions. “The gun can only kill you up to your grave but the media can kill you beyond the grave.” Imeldific (talk) 06:30, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, it is pretty standard to use someone's first or last name alone after the first mention in context. That does not mean that she is primarily known just as "Imelda". Strong oppose. RGloucester — ☎ 16:08, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

Imelda → Imelda (name) – WP:COMMONNAME: Imelda Marcos satisfies both criteria for WP:PRIMARYTOPIC in terms of usage and long-term significance. This title should WP:REDIRECT to her article much like Mandela → Nelson Mandela, Obama → Barack Obama and Reagan → Ronald Reagan. Imeldific (talk) 13:51, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
