Heh, heh, Anthere we both jumped on that one at the same time. Yours is more complete than mine, so I bow to you. I'll add a couple links though Pollinator 15:49, 4 Dec 2003 (UTC)

lol. Yes, I saw it just appear on the main page...thought "eh great, a stuff on gaucho..." and found horse stuff instead :-) Thought it deserve filling up ;-). However, I am at work, so I just did a short summary. Will add links later, in particular to studies if you did not do so before.

I'm not sure of the meaning here? "In may 2003, Bayer also attacked in justice one of the leader of the french association of beekeepers for disparagement of the chemical Gaucho. The action was rejected." Is this a court case? What court? Pollinator 15:55, 4 Dec 2003 (UTC)

french court case. Just found that short link,; but I followed the story last summer, so will add a better link. http://www.webagri.fr/Outils/Fiches/FichesDetail.asp?id=2574
the guy was vice president of the association for 30 years. Will precise this more. It was an interesting option that Bayer tried to shut people up. Made a mistake though. The accusation was in 2001. The rejection in 2003.
cheers

I'm thinking that the new section should be moved to a new page titled "Gaucho (pesticide trademark), with a link to it. How think you, Anthere? Pollinator 15:59, 4 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Gaucho (pesticide) or Gaucho (pesticide trademark), yes, probably much better. I thought we could take opportunity that it was listed on the main page for a little while though (for promotion). Hum ? :-)
Didn't take long, did it. No point in further discussion of moving it.... Pollinator 16:17, 4 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Pollinator, your edits are in User:Anthere/temp for you to restore :-) Ant

Merge Proposal

There's so many different names under which this stuff is marketed. I think that this article's canonical name should be Imidacloprid, and the numerous trade names should redirect of disambig to the canonical page. jmd 05:07, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Agree in part, but the Imidacloprid article is presently a short relativly NPOV technical reference. I suggest that this article is much more about the controversy over its effects on bees than about the insecticide itself. Possibly the controversy merits an article in its own right, rather than swamping the Imidacloprid reference page. For the present I have linked the reference to the Gaucho tradmark to this page, since there is presently no other indication on the Imidacloprid page that there is further a wikipedia article about it under one of its trade names.--Shoka 23:07, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Fair point. How about then the main article being Imidacloprid, redirects from Gaucho, Premise, Merit and other names as appropriate, and a seperate article on the bee controversy? jmd 02:46, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Agree entirely. I think that NPOV requires that there is a link to to the controversy article on the Imidacloprid page though. Currently only the link via the Gaucho trade name brings you to this page.--Shoka 23:44, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Sorry not had an opertunity to contribute, but thank you for the excellent re arrangement. Much improved.--Shoka 22:07, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Post-2003 studies

"Some national field studies are currently under way (2003) to assert the responsibility of Imidacloprid" - this was in France, and it is out for some years [1]. Can someone read and add? Also, I have CN'ed some "studies" that are mentioned but not cited. With such issues, it is crucially important to properly cite research and not just off-hand mention "some studies". Update

It seems the following new information ought to be included in the article. Neoprote 10:12, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Needs to be Re-Titled (Typo or Error in Grammar)

Not to quibble, but the Title should read ...Effects on Bees, not ...Affects on Bees. Cheers! Jornadigan (talk) 19:24, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

That's not a quibble; that's a really bothersome typo. How does one change the title around here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aristidescap (talkcontribs) 16:39, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

It's very simple to "change the title" usually. It takes the form of moving the entire page (and its history) to the new title (see WP:MOVE). The drop-down menu next to the Search box has a "Move" operation. (I've moved this page to fix the spelling). -R. S. Shaw (talk) 03:19, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
