These two pages (this one and Kaiserschützen) seem to be about the exact same regiments. Is there any reason to have two separate articles here? -165.234.252.11 (talk) 15:29, 26 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

No they're different but related, but thanks for raising this as more work is needed. The Kaiserschützen were the Tyrolean territorial rifles until 1906; originally there were 10 battalions, then 3 regiments reducing to just two. In 1906 the two surviving regiments and a newly raised 3rd regiment of Kaiserschützen, together with two line infantry regiments, were retrained into mountain infantry and collectively became the Gebirgstruppe after that. So they cover two different periods of history and two different roles. Moreover the Gebirgstruppe were not just formed from Kaiserschützen, but from ordinary line infantry. So like German Wikipedia, it seems sensible to maintain them as separate articles but make the relationship much clearer whilst ensuring there is minimal duplication. --Bermicourt (talk) 16:26, 26 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Oh, that does make sense. -165.234.252.11 (talk) 17:02, 26 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
