taimiao (太庙)

As it stands, "taimiao" redirects to this page. However, the Imperial Ancestral Temple in Beijing, while important, is just one example of a taimiao. Nowadays, the term is also used generically to refer to any imperial ancestral temple established throughout the various dynasties, including those before the Ming and Qing.
