Overall:
Pass/Fail:

  • Copyvio check - I reviewed the top few matches from Earwing's Copyvio Detector. No concerns.
  • Images: FUR provided for the album cover. Other images are CC. Captions and positioning are fine. The album cover doesn't have alt text. I didn't see any directly-relevant images of Costello on Commons, but you could consider adding one of him.
  • Sources
No unresolved issues.

Background

  • "had only reached the top 30" - maybe add something about the performance of his earlier albums. A collection of out-takes reahing the top 30 doesn't sound too bad, without the context.
  • Valid point. Fixed; this also makes "another massive success akin to Armed Forces" later on make more sense
  • I'd omit "Additionally," but it's OK to retain it.
  • Add year for Almost Blue
  • " himself the artist," - " himself as an artist,"?
  • Could wikilink Devon - I'm not sure how well known it is internationally.
  • "an eight-track album" made me think of 8-track tape but it's fine to retain.
  • All above done

Recording and production

  • "came from Trust" - mention it was an out-take (or whatever)
  • It was actually only written during that time not recorded, but I clarified that
  • "road-tested" seems a bit informal
  • "The vast experimentation utilised unusual instruments" - maybe just something like "The group utilised unusual instruments"?
  • Done
  • "Costello stated that his performance led him to rewrite the number" - specify the "his" if not Costello, or "his own" if it is.
  • Clarified
  • "Nieve's piano exerts itself prominently throughout the songs" - reword; I know what this is getting at, but "piano exerts itself" doesn't seem appropriate
  • Done
  • " the last of which the band" - "the latter...", or "the second..."
  • Done

Music and lyrics

  • [11][9][29][30] - refs out of order. Also consider WP:BUNDLING
  • Done
  • "an old cabaret poster he saw in a hotel dining room" - is the "he" Costello, or the character?
  • Clarified
  • "embellishes 1960s psychedelia" - I haven't read the Perone source, but isn't it more like "recalls..." or "echoes..." or something?
  • Fixed
  • the last line, "love and unhappiness go arm in arm", - I don't think this is actaully the last line, is it?
  • You're right...it's not. That's awkward. Removed 'last'
  • "Gouldstone sparks further discussion in God's Comic," - not sure "sparks further discussion" is the right phrase.

Artwork and packaging

  • Seems fine. (I remember first seeing the LP lyric sheet - amazing!)

Release and promotion

  • "To fill the time," seems redundant.
  • .[10][1][8] ref. ordering
  • Both fixed

Critical reception

  • Is "Most critics were unanimous in their admiration.." based on the content of the sources, or that there were four review that expressed admiration?
  • Changed to 'several'
  • Done
  • "but viewed it both positively and negatively" - tweak wording, unless the point is that particular critics viewed "both positively and negatively"
  • "Considine deduced" - I don;t think "deduced" is quite the right word
  • Changed to 'stated'

Tour and aftermath

  • "The singer boasted more friendly on-stage demeanor throughout" - not sure "boasted" is right here; more friendly than what? (Previous tours, I suppose)
  • Clarified
  • Embraced by funk and R&B flavours," - "Embracing funk and R&B flavours,"?
  • Fixed

Retrospective appraisal

  • Seems fine.

Reissues

  • Seems fine.

Track listing

  • No source mentioned.

Personnel

  • No issues.

Charts

  • No issues.

Notes

  • Page/chapter references for notes d and e would help verification.

References

  • Sources seem to be appropriate. I spot checked a few whilst reading through, no concerns.

Infobox and Lead

  • No issues.

Fine work again, zmbro. I made a couple of minor edits. Revert any that aren't appealing. Feel free to challenge any of my comments above. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 15:05, 1 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

BennyOnTheLoose Thanks for picking this up so quickly. I really didn't expect that (considering no one's taken Trust and Blue yet) so I went in and added some links and images, etc, before I started on your comments. Thanks again for reviewing. – zmbro (talk) (cont) 19:19, 2 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm enjoying the articles and learning more about the albums from them. I jumped on Imperial Bedroom as I count it amongst Costello and the Attractions' masterpieces. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 08:26, 3 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
