- Lede
- "impressive" is usually a word to avoid but I think it is probably an accurate description.
- I agree and thought more than once about this, but as the Parthenon and the Garden Temple are both listed Grade II*, I think it is appropriate. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- I think the info that "it was inspired by the front of Buckingham Palace, London" is worth mentioning in the lede.
- The evidence is not really strong enough to include it in the lead. I have in fact amended the text in the body and put "evidently inspired" in quotes.--Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- History
- "but in about 1790–92 built the Garden Temple, a building in Classical style." I think "he" should be added before built here.
- Done. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- "A large bay window was added to the west side of the Drawing Room, and a new Dining Room was built at the east end. " -date?
- A vague date added (all that I can find) and a citation for the source. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- "Five parachute bombs fell near the hall. " -can you elaborate a bit? -perhaps mention them in relation to certain raids and some dates.
- Sorry no info about this, despite another search. But I have expended the sentence to make it less bare. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- " Following the war the fabric of the hall and the estate deteriorated, and in 1960 it was decided to sell them." -"fabric" I think is a little confusing here, it makes it look as if you mean selling the actual fabric of the hall! You don't mean that now do you?
- Reworded, so I hope it now makes sense. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- pipe link to for Archdiocese to Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool, it's currently a redirect.
- Done. But during a FLC review I was asked to take out the piped links; referring to redirects, the reviewer said that is what they are for! --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- Architecture
- Give first names of Pollard and Pevsner.
- Done. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- "There is also a complete scheme of Crace decoration" -not sure "complete scheme" is best here.
- I have removed "complete", although P&P do say "A complete and splendid Crace scheme". However this drew my attention to an error. I had said it was in the Library, but it was actually in the Gallery - corrected. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- Associated structures
- Please refer to each one as The Pantheon or The Garden Temple rather than "this" following on from the header.
- Done. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- Are there really no photos available for the Pantheon? I'd be particularly interested in seeing a picture of it and I think it would much help the article.
- No, very frustrating. The hall, with its Catholic connections, has always been very secluded (I drive past it frequently, and there is nothing to see from any road). Being a nursing home, and being used as a convent, it has retained its privacy. I have found no recent free-to-use depictions of the hall or of the associated buildings, other than the gateways. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- As you even link things like busts, perhaps like stuccoed too.
- Done. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- "The frieze contains a Latin inscription, which translates as "In this place it is summer and winter all year round", referring to the fact that the building was heated by air from external fireplaces. " Can you give the Latin inscription in italics literally here for reference purposes?
- Done, but I have added this as a footnote rather than placing it intrusively in the text. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- Delink "marble" in Garden structures per OVERLINK
- "Triglyph" in Gates too.
- Both done. Sorry I missed them. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- Appraisal
- "although Blundell's service block is "a rather plodding Palladian affair". -although "they consider" ?
- Done. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
A fine article, excellent work. Easily passable once you've addressed. Thanks.
- Many thanks for a prompt and helpful review. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
