The article needs to be moved to Income support and rewritten because this is the general term in English, not just that of a program in the UK as shown by this and this. --Espoo (talk) 21:59, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- That would be a separate article, at income support then, not a reason to remove this article...

Complete re-write needed
editThis is a very poor article which represents the Income Support system very badly. It contains several errors, particularly the description of the relationship with Incapacity Benefit which is factually incorrect. Also personal allowances only are quoted which is misleading since Income Support is much wider than this due to the additional premiums which are also payable. There is no explanations for the treatment of couples or families in the article which appears only to relate to single person assessments. It really needs to be completely re-written. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Toxteth o'grady (talk • contribs) 14:44, 8 August 2008 (UTC) macktheknife (talk) 14:47, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Global view?
editThe article has been marked with a tag suggesting that it doesn't provide a global view. That's not surprising, since it's a description of the UK benefit entitled "Income Support". I've deleted the tag, but would be happy to discuss here. --Phil Holmes (talk) 16:53, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- Income support is also a term used in Australia. It can mean any range of benefits from unemployment benefit through to the old age pension as well as something similar to the UK description. Ozdaren (talk) 08:38, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, no. The term 'Income Support', as used in Australia, relates to just three separate benefit payments - for small businesses and farmers. We're not talking about the generic sense of 'income support', or providing welfare in general. Many articles relate to a specific scheme, in a specific context; this is no different. All that is required is a {{about}} temp. at the top. (109.224.134.102 (talk) 23:03, 15 October 2010 (UTC))
