Please discuss the opening sentence here rather than reverting and edit warring. In my opinion, [1] is a very poor reference for at least two reasons: it is a self-published claim by the owner of IOL, and it is very short and is almost word for word the same as the opening sentence of this article - including the same poorly written repetitive wording about "one of South Africa's ... websites based in South Africa." A different reference is needed. The disputed sentence is problematic as has been pointed out before. The term "leading" is a peacock term (basically a marketing claim to cast the subject in a positive light) and calling it a "news and information" website is superfluous when "news website" would be better. Earlier versions claiming "partially state-owned" were also problematic as they gave undue weight to this in order to cast the subject in a negative light.
