Terminology
editThe official term is коренные, малочисленные народы Севера, Сибири и Дальнего Востока Российской Федерации, which translates as Indigenous, small-numbered peoples of the North, Sibera and the Far East, so: indigenous first, small-numbered second. The term "extreme" (крайний) is not part of the term, even though of course it is part of how Russian legislation defines the КМНС. --

Indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East → Unified List of Indigenous Minority Peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Far East of Russia – Better satisfy WP:CRITERIA of recognizability and precision (nos. 1 and 3 in the WP:CRITERIAORDER).
- Identify the subject as an official designation of the Russian Federation.
- Translate the actual title of the designating list in title case.
- Less clunky translation, ans it appears in academic literature.

Requested move 2 June 2024
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved. Rough consensus to move, based on the current wording at WP:INDIGENOUS. Should that change be undone, this move should also be reverted. (closed by non-admin page mover) BilledMammal (talk) 20:31, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
Unified list of Indigenous minority peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Far East of Russia → Unified list of indigenous minority peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Far East of Russia – Here "indigenous" is a common adjective, not the proper name, merely stating the fact that these people lived there until Russian Empire grabbed their land - Altenmann >talk 00:42, 2 June 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. - Oppose. WP:INDIGENOUS says that "Native American", "Indian", and "Indigenous" are all capitalized when referring to individuals and their citizenship. That seems to fairly clearly apply here. Whether it's an adjective or a noun isn't relevant, it is referring to individuals and should be capitalised let the guideline. — Amakuru (talk) 21:43, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
Whether it's an adjective or a noun isn't relevant
- the key word is "common", not "adjective". And no, the article subject is not about "individuals". - Altenmann >talk 00:26, 7 June 2024 (UTC)- Of course it's about individuals. These are specific Indigenous people of the areas mentioned. It is not a sweeping general phrase about indigenous people in general, but a specific group of individuals. — Amakuru (talk) 07:21, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
- It's about groups of individuals, peoples, as entities, not about the people themselves as entities. Support per nom. Cremastra (talk) 16:35, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

- @Amakuru, there's a growing consensus that WP:INDIGENOUS is incorrect for a number of reasons. See the discussion at Talk:Genocide of Indigenous peoples. — kashmīrī TALK 16:37, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
