Table format?

edit

This list might work well in a table format. A potential format (with made up content) could be:

Battalion designation Most recent reported status Previous assignments Notes
Yonif 100 - Infantry Battalion 100 KODAM x, Location (2007) KODAM y (1995)
KODAM y (1988)
Formed 1954

Thanks Nick for that idea. The problem is well illustrated at FARDC#Known integrated brigades or Russian Ground Forces#Dispositions (where there is a table, and it's unbalanced. You'll see the text can grow quite sizably in some entries, but not in others. If we keep as lines we can add more details without the table being very unbalanced. I actually find the table in the Russian article easier to follow than the dot points and text in the FARDC article - this looks cluttered, and there's no way of knowing what information is available on each unit at a glance. Nick-D (talk) 22:28, 28 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Correcting recent move

edit

This recent move of this article changed its name from List of Indonesian infantry battalions to Indonesian Army Infantry Battalions. In that rename, removing "List of" is fine, since the article is no longer (completely) in list form. However, changing "Indonesian" to "Indonesian Army", though not inaccurate, is not needed, and per WP:PRECISION shouldn't be included in the name. (Unless there are Indonesian infantry battalions that aren't part of the army that are in a different article?) Plus, changing "infantry battalions" to "Infantry Battalions" is incorrect. Although "Indonesian Army" is a proper noun and would be capitalized, "infantry battalions" is not and should not be capitalized.

If there are no objections, I'll move this article to Indonesian infantry battalions. --A D Monroe III(talk) 15:54, 25 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

I've moved this page to Indonesian Army infantry battalions, just removing the caps on "infantry battalions". Although Indonesian infantry battalions seemed to better follow WP:PRECISION, after looking at other "X battalions/regiments/divisions" articles, most "X" include what "Army" they belong to. Plus, the article focuses on the Indonesian Army by name. --A D Monroe III(talk) 15:35, 3 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
