Merging with Mixing (Process Industries)
editI think this article should be merged with mixing (process engineering). Both articles seem incomplete as written, and should be combined for a more useful and useable article.RSido (talk) 04:00, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- Not so sure of merging. While both the Mixing page and the Industrial Mixing page do cover a lot of the same ground, in my experience, "Mixing" refers to "Mixing Theory" and "Industrial Mixing" has more to do with applications. It is the theory vs practice aspect. I will need to do some more research as to what is in Wikipedia to form a better opinion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Keith Dackson, PhD, PE (talk • contribs) 06:32, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- While I'd tend to agree that a distinction between the theory and practice of mixing on an industrial scale would benefit the focus of articles on both topics, it is also worth noting that their subject matter is necessarily intertwined and that the pages being discussed do not appear to have been written with the possibility of such fines lines in mind. Both articles are principally grounded in the practical aspects of mixing. While one certainly branches into some theory, it doesn't do so to the extent that I would think warrants maintaining a separate page at this point. On that basis, I would say to go ahead with the merger.
- On the other hand, it might be more prudent to take advantage of a more modular approach by expanding on the content currently contained within the mixing article in several new articles with a narrower focus on their respective content. With that in mind, I would still say to merge the articles; with the eventual intent being to export the more mature sections to their own respective articles as they become more well rounded.
- I'll look for some articles and/or text references we can use to simplify some of the content when I get some more free time.

- It is now two years later and this Industrial mixer article is anemic, at best. This topic does not warrant its own page. The principal substance of this page is a long list of industrial mixing equipment, plus some poorly-typeset formulas that are given with no explanation, no context, and no citations. Moving forward with the merge. T minus 24 hours. Charlesreid1 (talk) 04:39, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

Mixer vs agitator
editIs there any difference between this article and this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agitator_(device)? IMHO are the same device. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.172.35.212 (talk) 10:18, 22 April 2015 (UTC)
