This article should be rewritten so that it has one voice. Now it sounds as though several parties are debating throughout the paragraphs. Children, wife, family, and the future of IKEA

Can someone mention Ingvar Kamprad's children, is he married, divorced? And how did he place his sons in his empire. What will happen with IKEA after Ingvar Kamprad.

Clarifications

This passage was removed: According to Swedish business weekly Veckans Affärer [1], he is the wealthiest person in the world. However, this assertion is denied by IKEA, which notes that Kamprad no longer owns the company, which should therefore not be included in reports of his wealth. Forbes magazine continues to rank Bill Gates at #1, ranking Kamprad at #13.

General Electric "trades for" $370 billion. But the value is split on 10.57 billion shares. And no one person owns all of them. Jeffrey Immelt is the CEO and owns 683,532 of them. IKEA is not a "public company" and doesn't disclose very detailed ownership information. I believe that assumption is slightly incorrect as IK's family does privately own the company.

Alcoholic

"he was once an alcoholic which is something that he regrets" This does not sound well with me. Being alcoholic is not something that you get over. Regretting it is like regretting that you had cancer. This should be rewritten for the sake of all alcoholics.

-- Who are you to say what he regrets or not? He's been quoted exactly the way it says in this article, i.e. that he regrets being an alcoholic. He regrets that part of his life.

I just removed it - not because I think it's unimportant, but because it is an unsupported statement. I'd be all for someone adding it back - even quoting his exact words - but it needs a citation for where it's been previously published at. (Perhaps his biography?)

So, how did he Really get money?

It seems that he traded matches in the farm, got some (how much? 10 buck, or ten million??) money from a gift and created a $30 billion dollars worth shop. Tell us something about why the furniture is so cheap (children labor in asia not much different from slaves). Tell me why he (who can't even learn well (!)) managed to build this IKEA empire, while a lot of other people failed.

Clash of Data,i think

Bill Gates is no more number one.

According to Swedish business life the networth of Ingvar Kamrad exceeds 88 billion dollars. It is a bit difficult to know exactly since there are a number of different holdings and foundations controling the company. However they are all owned by IK and/or his family as you probably know. Forbes are however far from the targe with their estimates.

Net Worth section

The addition made by 86.140.121.122 on March 6 seems incongruous and unnecessary. As I am only a peripheral contributor to the Wiki I will refrain from removing it myself, but it seems like this content must go against some Wikipedia policies. - 19 April 2008

I'm not really sure why the information in the Net Worth section was ever changed from the December 23d version. Had I seen that it was correct (and formatted nicely) in the past revision, I wouldn't have bothered making the table. All of the edits should maybe just be reverted back to the Dec 23d version, especially as I can't figure out how to keep the table from extending into the following section. Implications that Kamprad is some sort of Nazi-Revivalist

The fact that Ingvar Kamprad was part of a Pro-Nazi support group, is hideous and beyond regrettable. He has publically stated his prior involvement was his "greatest regret" of his life, by far. He also has written a letter of apology to ALL Jewish employees, of IKEA. Now, under the section, Nazi-Involvement, I removed the last sentence, which read: It is believed that the fact that IKEA is one of the few retailers to have a store in Israel, even though it also does business with the Arab World, reflects an attempt to temper this controversy. This sentence is NOTHING MORE than a speculative opinion. Why? The way it was worded, implied that because Kamprad does business with the Arab world, he likely still agrees with the viewpoints of Nazi support groups. This is ABSURD. The source, which was sited for this sentence came from, Jewish News Weekly of Northern California, a small publication.

In short, it was beyond hideous that this influential, high profile figure made the choice to be part of a group that supported despicable acts, and this, should not be forgotten. The fact that Kamprad said it is his "greatest regret" doesn't change his past involvement. We cannot imply that Kamprad actively or even tacitly espouses ideas or acts, which are pro-Nazi, on the basis of where IKEA does business, or, to some extent, IKEA’s customers. Negative emphasis should be deleted

the fact that he may have driven a Porsche, or owned a vineyard in Provence is all good information, and should be added to the article alongside his "frugality" however the insertion of it being to market the company better should not be, Wikipedia is not a PR place, it should not make the man look bad, and it implies heavily he is dishonest and trustworthy, this is an opinion, and I therefore delete it, please comment back if it irritates you 81.159.132.236 (talk) 20:52, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
