Inner-city suburbs

edit

In some nations there are areas referred to as "inner-city suburbs" this is taken as valid as some "suburbs" are in the middle of the CBD in certain cities, this definition however does not conform to the articles interpretation of what a suburb and what an inner city area is giving them separate meanings where in a lot of circumstances they are synonymous... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.164.55.127 (talk) 17:51, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ambiguous

edit

It's still not clear to me what constitutes "inner city". Would a place like Jamaica, Queens or Flushing, Queens constitute inner cit? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.160.255.114 (talk) 15:10, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Or Hempstead, New York. The answer depends on whether the use is poetical/sociological or literal/geographical. I was surprized when adding a picture to Far Rockaway, Queens that it was described as both "inner city" and "marginal", the former being poetically accurate and the latter literally. Perhaps we need to delineate the duality of the designation a bit more. Jim.henderson (talk) 18:08, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cities are evil

edit

Seems to me, having half the article devoted to this topic is unbalanced. This doesn't mean anti-urbanism is a negligible doctrine or sentiment, but it doesn't belong in an article that's about the distinctions among the various zones of the concentric ring model and other questions of human land use patterns. So, even though it's a small article, better to split off the anti-urban portion to another article. And why mostly American? After all, whatever wonderful things the United States may have invented, anti-urbanism is definitely centuries older. See for example Japanese anti-urbanism, which of course is not a recent invention either, given the old national class structure. Such matters would further unbalance the present article, which is another argument for a split. Jim.henderson (talk) 21:19, 22 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I didn't find the link to 'Inner City (band)' in this page. Can somebody help me to fix it? Thanks! Demián Mega. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 136.1.1.101 (talk) 19:34, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why is this connected to 'Discrimination' and 'Racial Discrimination'?

edit

I don't understand why this article on urban planning is part of a series on racial discrimination. Nothing in the text supports this, or refers to either discrimination or racial discrimination. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.211.21.228 (talk) 11:02, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Should this be removed? It is about something like CBD. Sarcelles (talk) 16:58, 29 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Historical term

edit

This may be more of a historical concept. Now for many cities only the wealthiest can afford to live in the "inner city" close to major business districts, there is no low-income housing. The low income groups who work in the cities can't afford to live there, live farther out and have to commute into their jobs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:41:4003:B7F0:F8BF:8E40:5FF0:9710 (talk) 14:55, 28 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

False. I came to this article after watching several news videos talking about inner city crime and inner city violence. I am not at all sure that "only wealthiest" do all this shoothing and drug pedding in the "inner city". 20:07, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Confusing

The definition in first paragraph speaks of slums, but the pictures are of prosperity. There is somethong wrong with the article. - Altenmann >talk 20:12, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
