Fair use rationale for Image:NealStephenson Interface.jpg

edit

Image:NealStephenson Interface.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:24, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Final Sentence in Plot Summary

edit

Richmond ends up as the first black and first female President of the United States, in an ending that is left hanging in Stephenson's traditional style.

I notice this phrase has "citation needed" attached to it. But I don't see how a citation is possible here. While I'm aware of Stephenson's unusual philosophy regarding endings, it doesn't lend itself to a set of rules which can be explicitly identified. So unless there's a review that definitely states exactly this, then it can only be opinion, and thusly I am removing it. If anyone CAN find a review that says this and wishes to reenstate it, then I only ask you also include something that helps identify the phase as a quotation of someone's opinion rather than a scholarly fact. That aside, I'm leaving in the "citation needed", since I wasn't sure if it was refering only to that sentence or to the entire section. 75.50.145.137 (talk) 22:34, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm fairly sure the tag referred just to the OR about Stephenson's endings, not to the rest of the plot summary. I've removed it. Wyatt Riot (talk) 18:14, 1 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I also can't help wondering what's left hanging here. The ending may be abrupt, but hanging? Should they have written about Eleanor's daily work as a president? The tedious mopping-up of the vast concpiracy? What life in jail is like for Cy? Years of court negotiations? JöG (talk) 19:32, 17 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Spoiler

Hey there. I'm not a big fan of plot summaries that are so complete they contain major "Spoilers"? Should there be a "Spoiler" warning at the top of the Summary? (Better writing can avoid that problem) I thought I had put one in there but I think it was taken off? Anyway, just saying ... 71.6.81.62 (talk) 04:03, 13 October 2009 (UTC)-mbd-71.6.81.62 (talk) 04:03, 13 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nope. Per WP:SPOILER, we don't do that. This is an encyclopedia, after all, so it's assumed that our plot summaries will be complete. Wyatt Riot (talk) 18:58, 13 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
