Talk:Intermediate disturbance hypothesis

Latest comment: 12 years ago by Ezambetti in topic This page needs the figure

I just wanted to give a heads up that I am planning on expanding this site to include a more detailed intro as well as a few subsections: mechanisms behind IDH, alternative hypotheses for coexistence, testing the IDH and applications for management. Sound good?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Biota007 (talkcontribs) 22:58, 4 March 2007

Sure, but please be sure to sign your comments, otherwise we don't know who is offering to expand it or when they did so. Richard001 06:48, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

that is used to explain the change in diversity with different levels of disturbance. If you have it please post it...Avram Primack (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 18:53, 23 October 2008 (UTC).Reply

Hutchinson 1953; "All these elements can be found in Hutchinson (1953), except the idea that there are few species when disturbance is too severe, which Hutchinson probably took for granted." (Wilson B J, 1994) www.nzes.org.nz/nzje/free_issues/NZJEcol18_2_176.pdf

also the theory name was first coined by Connell, also meantioned in the article

I plan on adding further detail about IDH model and examples to typecast different levels of disturbances. Also so the underlying connection between disturbance and specie richness. Cristina Chinchayan {talk}

I have found two studies to support the IDH with regards to marine coral reef and macroalgal communities. Lyssie3 (talk) 23:42, 10 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

I would like to expand on the history section. The article that talks about the controversy over the originator of the hypothesis goes into a lot more depth about when and where the idea originated. Ezambetti (talk) 14:56, 11 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
