Origins
editThis is a split from (the very long) South Africa under apartheid, as mooted and approved on its talk page. 9Nak (talk) 14:54, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
"Internal resistance" is a very emotive term. Wouldn't "internal opposition", or better still, "domestic opposition" be better? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.197.15.138 (talk) 19:22, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Progressive Federal Party causus 1988.jpg
editThe image Image:Progressive Federal Party causus 1988.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

New reference
editA recent edit added the following as a reference at the very start of the article (diff):
- Anthony Sampson in 'Mandela', The authorised biography of Nelson Mandela(1999,2000):chp.4(Afrikaners v. Africans 1946-1949; chp.5(Nationalists v. Communists 1950-1951: chp.6(Defiance 1952)
Since that is not helpful to the article, I have moved it here in case someone wants to consider using the book as a reference for specific information in the article. Johnuniq (talk) 07:57, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Requested move 3 April 2015
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Move to Internal resistance to apartheid. It will also be worth cleaning up the article with clearer references to South West Africa, which is mentioned a few times in the text. Cúchullain t/c 14:36, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
Internal resistance to South African apartheid → Internal resistance to Apartheid – I don't think the "South African" part of the title is necessary. It was removed form the main article, why don't we do the same here? Charles Essie (talk) 21:48, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- Suggest something like Resistance to apartheid in South Africa. Otherwise the current title better meets WP:AT "The title indicates what the article is about":
- weak oppose GregKaye 23:07, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- I'm down for Resistance to apartheid in South Africa Red Slash 00:12, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
- Support: would bring article in line with main apartheid article. Simpler title than others that have been proposed. Ebonelm (talk) 11:34, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
- Exactly! Besides, apartheid was not limited to South Africa anyway. It was also in South-West Africa (Namibia), and they had their own resistance movements. Charles Essie (talk) 19:41, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- Support as proposed, move to Internal resistance to Apartheid. Unless we explicitly have separate articles on resistance within Namibia, and resistance within South Africa, the two should be considered together, and it's best not to mention "South Africa" in the title, just as we no longer do for the main Apartheid article. — Amakuru (talk) 15:54, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
Soweto uprising
edit'Crowd control methods used by South African police at the time included mainly dispersement techniques, and many of the officers shot indiscriminately, killing 176 people, most by police violence.'
One non-sequitur and one apparent contradiction - needs work, I think.
