Other Ls
editAlso, IHC built L-series truck up to the 190 (200?) series and in to later years (1955?) They should be included. I'm not the expert to do it. : ) AMCKen (talk) 05:39, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Australia
editI believe that trucks sold/assembled in Australia were given the extra prefix of A. So Australian vehicles are known as AL-110, AR-110 etc. Eddaido (talk) 01:24, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
- This was true for the later A-series (AA in Australia), at least. After that, their development paths diverged, as the AB and later versions were indigenously developed. Was there an AS-line as well? ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃ (talk) 14:49, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
- I don't know the answer to that one. About the photo of the yellow L110 in the article, of course there may have been a different spring set-up for Australia but the yellow one looks maybe 3 inches too low on its springs —otherwise an apparently perfect example. "International" brand
editTrucks built by "International Harvester Company" (and "Navistar") are branded "International". This is true from at least 1914, the name may have been in use by 1908. "A History of International Trucks (PDF copy of this article)". International Harvester Company, Chicago, Illinois. April 25, 1961. Retrieved September 19, 2017. explains the brand name in the first paragraph of the second page. Seventy-five years of "International Harvester Company" brochures for "International" trucks are here: [1]
There is a discussion about all International/International Harveste brands at " "Are International Harvester trucks branded "International"?. Thank you. Sammy D III (talk) 15:38, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Sammy D III, I see that in this particular article there are five occasions when just the International name is used by itself. Even in the template at the bottom of the page which is headed up International Truck product line. I've asked for opinions on WikiProject Trucks. In the real world these trucks are named "International L-Series" without the word "Harvester"
editThe International Harvester Company manufactured and sold these trucks as "International L-Series".
International Harvester Co. has told the public that they have sold trucks under the "International" name since 1914 in 1947 (p. 2), 1961 (p. 2), and 1976 (pp. 14-15, 18-26). An editor might think that one of the world's largest truck manufacturers would know the registered trademark brand name that they sell those trucks under. International Harvester Co. should at the very least be a source for WP:OFFICIALNAMES. Probably WP:COMMONNAME too, most automobile and truck articles use the vehicle's official name.
This box has published sources for the WP:COMMONNAME being "International":

Here is a simple search: This link[2] is to a run-of-the mill commercial truck sales site. There are plenty of them, choose any that sells used trucks. Search "Select a make" for "International". What do professionals who buy and sell trucks call them?
Look at the left cowl on the green image in the infobox. Do you see the word "International"? Do you see the word "Harvester"?
This article was created with a made-up (probably accidently) name with no source. As of today there is still no WP:RELIABLE source for the word "Harvester" in the name unless Gunnell (1993) does.
Right now Wikipedia is saying that "International Harvester" is both the WP:COMMONNAME and WP:OFFICIALNAMES for these trucks when WP:RELIABLE show that neither is true. A Wikipedia-specific made-up name is presented as a common fact.
Some editors (@Amakuru, BarnCas, DanTD, Steve Lux, Jr., and SteveCof00:) do not believe that the sources above are WP:RELIABLE for WP:COMMONNAME and/or WP:OFFICIALNAMES and have opposed any name-changes. All have been shown most of these sources.
"Harvester" it is. Sammy D III (talk) 00:51, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
