Added updates
editJust published a variety of updates from my research. I did my best to update information and find citations, but there are still some noticeable gaps in the original content which I made sure to mark. Busk12 (talk) 18:00, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
Upcoming updates
editI'm currently working on improvements for this article, including: updating the statistics, rewriting/reorganizing the regulation section, and adding in information about the use and effects of the Internet in Japan. I may also revise the History section and try to find sources, but I'm not sure I'll be able to find where all of the information comes from. Busk12 (talk) 23:53, 17 November 2020 (UTC)
Needs more dates
editSurely Japan had Internet service before 1999. This article needs to go back further in time, and date each event by at least the year. — Walloon 07:37, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
-- TWICS was apparently first, and Niftyserve apparently started in 1989. JANIS in Nagano was another early pioneer. Global On-Line (GOL), started by Roger Boisvert, was another. LittleBen (talk) 22:39, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Citations?
editAll this information is great, but it would be nice to have something to back it up with. I also don't know how to add the "Cite sources" tag. :/ - 129.237.76.69 16:34, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
WP:Japan Assessment Commentary
editThe article was rated Stub-class because it's a complete mess that provides very little useful information. There is no introduction, or it was deleted, so that the starting sentence is like some random point in a larger article. Furthermore, the article is riddled with internet-specific jargon with no explanation or context. There is very little in the way of time frame; sources are sorely lacking. Good luck to whomever eventually tries to improve it. Boneyard90 (talk) 19:07, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
