Tb or TB?
editshould the traffic be in Tb & Gb instead of TB & GB?
- "B" for "byte" and "b" for "bit". It's "TB". Cc68 (talk) 16:31, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
- FYI internet traffic is measured in visitors and their dollars. Gee we didn't see any money did we boss? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.94.241.61 (talk) 11:14, 28 September 2013 (UTC)
Cisco Estimates
editI was unable to find the numbers previously tabulated on Cisco's website. The numbers put up now are the February, 2010 vintage forecast for mobile IP data traffic, combined with the June, 2009 forecast for the other parts of IP traffic, which is the most recent. Those forecasts are only shown with history back to 2008. However, the FAQ does provide growth rates, which allow to extend traffic back to 2004. Cisco cites Odlyzco, so these would appear to be the distillation of non-Cisco research. If the original editor has a Cisco url with the previous data, we should discuss which figures should dominate. Cc68 (talk) 04:31, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
I've added the missing data for 2012-2014 to the Cisco IP traffic data table, using the Cisco PDFs retrieved from archive.org. 89.27.253.230 (talk) 17:23, 23 August 2016 (UTC) HH
I've added the new data for 2016 retrieved from the Cisco web site to the IP traffic data table. 89.27.253.230 (talk) 15:34, 14 August 2017 (UTC) HH
State of the article after Sutiho112's edits
editSutiho112 significantly expanded the article, however I'm not sure if a large amount of the content is relevant. For example, the "Causes of internet traffic" seems to see Internet traffic as a problem, (it seems to be used as a synonym for "network congestion") and currently excludes a large amount of other traffic on the Internet, like normal web browsing, email, etc... It can also be seen by mentioning "Broadband" as a "solution" to internet traffic.
Some of the other added sections do seem like they do add value however... (Such as the sections on taxation (in one place), traffic classification (although it is likely relevant on (non-Internet) private networks as well))... 105.237.124.113 (talk) 17:55, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
