It went right thru my neighborhood (Armstrong and North Street) taking out houses one block north of mine for a width of at least a block. Those houses began to be moved in about 1956 or 57 I think. They were pouring concrete on the part just west of Peoria still in 1963 when they opened it up to west to 150. They (the politicians) were calling it the country's most beautiful stretch of interstate. I guess they had never been out of Illinois. WithGLEE (talk) 20:53, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
Part of I-74 is now named for Ray LaHood

Further updates needed. The new I-74 Mississippi River Bridge was completed sometime in 2021 or ‘22
