Does this team really exist? And, what proof is there that there will be indeed a merger? The article only states that the merger is pending approval... 141.237.80.20 (talk) 21:59, 24 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

There are two articles reporting the terms of the agreement between the two teams, and at least one is published by a reliable source: [1] If there are factual inaccuracies, it's the sources' fault; the article satisfies WP:V. Kosm1fent 07:19, 25 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
There's no article however supporting that such a team exists at present. The site of EPAE has "(AE) Pontioi Katerinis", with the same logo, same name and same squad as it was before the "deal" announced by Iraklis. Also, EPO has the same name for "Pontioi" and "GS Iraklis" seems to still compete in Delta Ethniki according to it.
I'll give it time, but, like, if nothing changes for a month, either this article will have to be deleted or be made to talk about the assumed future deal, if there is indeed one. 141.237.85.56 (talk) 18:33, 26 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I don't disagree. One month is a fair deadline, I bet we'll know more details about that deal by then. Kosm1fent 18:45, 26 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Name

Is that something wrong on the name? AEP (Greek: Αθλητική Ένωση Ποντίων) is "Pontian sports club". Most Greek football club with F.C. in the title was instead the translation of ΠΑΕ (Ποδοσφαιρική Ανώνυμη Εταιρεία), so what the official name or common name of this club? There is nothing wrong with the name. AEP Iraklis is so far the official name of the club. It cannot be called just "AEP", as it refers to the former AE Pontion Katerini, nor can it be called just "Iraklis", as it refers to another club, Iraklis F.C.. I reckon as a common name it will eventually be "Iraklis", but now it's too soon for that and there is no source suggesting the old Iraklis ceased to exist. Kosm1fent 05:58, 26 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Re-establishment as a professional club - July 2012

edit

The newco AEP Iraklis (merger between Iraklis/Pontioi) has now turned professional. It is now called PAE (F.C.) Iraklis 1908. The old PAE (PAE Iraklis Thessalonikis) has been made inactive.

I vote in favor of the merge of the two articles, PAE Iraklis 1908 and Iraklis Thessaloniki FC, since the Club is one and only Iraklis. Only thing that changed is the AFM (V.A.T., tax identification number) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Downfoot1 (talk) 16:14, 26 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
