Sortable table
editI have restored the sortable option for the medallist tables.
Certainly the template needs to be improved or replaced to allow correct sorting on the times (and an additional column for "notes" would also be useful). In the meantime, it is definitely better to have the sortable option available. It works fine on sorting the years, which is useful both for our readers (some will prefer ascending order, others descending) and for editors wishing to check the data against other sources, which may come in either order. And technically the sorting does in fact work correctly on the remaining columns - it sorts on athlete name, which is useful for anyone wishing to know, for instance, how many times an athlete achieved a given medal place (and to check the medal templates on the triathlete bios!).
Yes, it would be nice to have a template that allowed sorting on the times (making it easier, for example, to check course records), but in the meantime it is definitely better to have the sortable option available.

- I see your point, but it doesn't work correctly at the moment (in Firefox anyway). When you click on the Silver medallist sort button it sorts the gold medallist's time; when you click on the Bronze medallist sort button it sorts the silver medallist's name. - Thanks for fixing it to avoid the template. I use Firefox too (on XP), so I checked again on an earlier version, and it worked as I described above on a freshly loaded page, BUT if you then repeatedly click on different buttons it goes wrong (sometimes, not always). Strange. Anyway, the current version is certainly better. Obviously we need to do something about the times - one possibility would be to use {{sort}} with the first parm having a leading zero inserted when necessary (messy and ugly, but fairly easy to get my table generator to do this). Better would be to use a {{sorthms}} or similarly named template designed to sort times in tables, but no-one seems to have written one yet (not that I could find, anyway).
- Incidentally, my table generator could be used on other competitions where nl:wp or de:wp has similar data - the main problem that takes the time is fixing the different disambiguations on the two wikis.
- Just a (belated) follow-up on the above - this page now (since April 2009, actually) uses the template {{tts}} to sort the times correctly. --NSH001 (talk) 15:26, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

An ultra triathlon?
editWhy is the Hawaijan world championship classed as an ultra triathlon on Wikipedia? Ultra refers to a double, triple etc. Ironman (full distance), where as this is a normal full distance 2.4-112-26.2. 2001:14BB:11D:DDD:74DD:676B:B727:2301 (talk) 20:49, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
