Name disambiguation
editI hold several books formerly held by I. M. Copi, and it should be noted within Wikipedia that Irving Maurmer Copi tended to refer to himself by the initialed form written earlier in this sentence. Hence, it seems reasonable that Wikipedia should include a disambiguation of the name Copi, and a redirection from I. M. Copi (and variations thereof) to the Irving Marmer Copi biography article. Copi's Introduction to Logic - Date of Publication
editThere is an entry for Copi's Introduction to Logic in WorldCat for a 1953 edition of the book. Copies of this edition are in 294 libraries according to WorldCat. (There is a later entry in WorldCat for the same edition listing copies held in 8 other libraries.) I see no earlier edition of this book listed in WorldCat, so I surmise that this is the first edition of the book. I will change the date of publication from the current (as of 4-4-15) and somewhat cryptic "1969 (1956)" to what I take to be the more accurate "1953." JohnintheBronx (talk) 21:45, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
"Copi is best known for...."
editAs of 4-4-15, the text of this article says ″Copi is probably best known as the author of Introduction to Logic and Informal Logic,....″ This is probably false.
Copi's Introduction to Logic is famous. Not so his Informal Logic, which was in print from 1986 to around 1996. What Copi is well-respected for among logicians is his Symbolic Logic (e.g., reviews for the book in academic journals are all positive). I will substitute Symbolic Logic for Informal Logic.
