Sounds like he's the Hull of the contra-dance tune "Hull's Victory Hornpipe". Anyone? --Jerzyt 16:46, 20 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

If it's based on this Hull's Victory Hornpipe, then I think you're right --J Clear 14:06, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't think Hull served on the Constitution at the end of the war of 1812, so that one sentence about "climax of the war" doesn't ring true with me. But I don't have my copy of Captain from Connecticut handy to research. --J Clear 14:06, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

USS Constitution lists a different captain at the end of the war.--J Clear 04:20, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hull relinquished command of Constitution after he defeated "Guerriere". William Bainbridge commanded the ship when it defeated "Java". Charles Stewart was pacing the quarterdeck during the very end of the war. So "climax of the war" is a bit imprecise. Sarzonia 02:15, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I commented the dubious bit out.--J Clear 00:32, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
