Trivia about Groucho Marx

edit

Related to his appearance on Marx's show: It would be interesting to know if any comments were made by Groucho regarding the physical similarity of the two men. Kashdan not only resembled Marx but also sounded quite a bit like him as I recall -- perhaps others who met him will agree.--Jrm2007 (talk) 05:13, 20 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nope. Groucho did challenge him to a chess match, though, but then changed his mind when Kashdan told him he couldn't cheat.
Kashdan's partner was, randomly enough, Tony Curtis's mother. They won $175, not enough to go on to the second round.—Chowbok 21:06, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Brief Mention of Kashdan in 1924 International Tournament Book

edit

The 18-year-old Kashdan was mentioned as a CCNY student who won the problem-solving competition that was associated with the amazing tourney (winner Em Lasker) held in Manhattan. Apparently he out-performed players from that event.

This would be one of the very first mentions of Kashdan in print, I guess. Also, that he went to CCNY is of interest.--Jrm2007 (talk) 19:20, 10 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
