I totally want to follow the rules. My entry was imitating the Islas Secas page which includes an external link to an advertisement. This link showing footage of the Islas Secas. Please let me know how I can make my page like theirs;permissible. Abdeely (talk) 17:06, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi Abdeely. That external link at the Islas Secas page has been removed also now. 'Fraid there's not much value to wikipedia in having links to adverts for a commercial resort that happens to be sited on on the islands. That's not what the articles are about, and per external links guidelines we try to keep ext links down to a bare minimum of only the most relevant and informative material.

Otherwise, nice work on starting this particular article- thanks! cheers, --cjllw ʘ TALK 13:25, 9 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please stop the vandalism

edit

Dear Factorx1983: Please stop vandalizing the Wikipedia page for “Palenque Island”. Your continual additions containing false information and personal attacks are in bad faith and out of keeping with Wikipedia’s policies. Forcing us to refer this dispute to the Wikipedia authorities will only result in your inability to make meaningful contributions to the encyclopedia, and waste the time of many people.

Your original contributions, which were clearly vandalism and harassment, were modified by two good Samaritans who understood that they did not meet Wikipedia’s guidelines for neutrality. However, what they did not know, and couldn’t know, was what is verifiable. Thus, they left in many statements that appear neutral but are in fact false, as you and I both know . To wit:

1. The first (and only serious) claim the “Reverend” Sterling made against Benjamin Loomis – the case of usurpation – was thrown out of Court last month as frivolous. The other cases are currently in the same process and will be treated similarly.

2. The people you claim are on the island (1) never numbered 25; (2) were camping in the area defined by Panama law as public area, but eventually became such a nuisance to the local population that a court issued a restraining order; and (3) were arrested on 10 September by the police, and will by court order be jailed for 2 months if they return.

3. The news stations you refer to represent tabloid-style journalism, with standards worse than The Enquirer and World Weekly News, and are not legitimate news sources.

PS- Your most recent additions are increasingly inappropriate and will make it even clearer to the Wikipedia administrators that you are a vandal. They will also make our future libel cases much easier to prosecute. Thank you.

Sincerely, Benjamin Loomis Benloomis (talk) 21:47, 12 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for freezing the page from additional changes. You can understand more about the what is happening by reading my message to Factox1983 on the page's talk section.

I welcome your advice on this matter, since I'm a bit of a novice on the wiki and don't know all the procedures. I did read that I needed to contact the user before pursuing any other action, so that's why I wrote on the talk page. I was about to submit a request for an admin to look into the vandalism when you protected the page.

If you think it best, I would really appreciate it if you would undo the changes by FactorX1983 while you are looking into the vandalism. This person has been harassing our employees and customers despite intervention from the courts and the police. They know we are vulnerable here and on WikiTravel, and are trying to scare away buyers of the homes we are building on the island by posting false information.

We have tried to contribute to this page in a way that is informative and in keeping with the encyclopedic style, as you will see when you review it. The content they have entered this weekend is false and inappropriate, not in keeping with what we believe is the intent of the wiki. I have total trust in the democratic methods of the wiki, and I eagerly await the results of your review.

Do you recommend that I go ahead and submit a vandalism complaint?

Sincerely, Benjamin Loomis —Preceding unsigned comment added by Benloomis (talkcontribs) 22:30, 12 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

THE FACTOR-X REPLY

Dear Ben:

  1. The news stations that you are referring to as "Not Legitimate" happen to be Panama's biggest and most influential news agencies, both TVN and Medcom, who aired the stories. Right now they are taking note of your statements on this forum.
  2. There is an ongoing investigative report about what is going on in Isla Palenque. We were invited to Panama to take part on such journalist investigations.
  3. The fact that you are trying to hide sensitive information about what is going on with your project in Panama casts serious doubts about your legitimate intentions on a foreign country. Besides a wikipedia article should be clear and impartial. The people have the right to know everything there is about anything. To withold information about any matter to benefit your interests is not ethical and certainly can also be prosecuted under certain laws. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Factorx1983 (talkcontribs) 22:53, 12 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

The surviving external link under "External Resources" is to a purely advertising site for a resort on the island, and it should be deleted. Grafen (talk) 06:57, 13 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
